Portal Options

I am sure that is probably it, but it can be interpreted otherwise when he says we did not get "high level guys" I think most on here would interpret it as not highly ranked portal guys, but in the some guys could take that as a slight
I wouldn't get too deep analyzing comments from a college kid. He's not wrong, whereas last year we had 3-4 highly rated guys and not good team chemistry. I'm not even sure Wilkerson is rated in the top 20 portal guys and the rest are farther down the rankings. Not to worry, that's how Florida built their team over the last couple of years and how Lville did it last year.

Where are rebounds and post defense play gonna come from to stop 6-11 and 7-0 beefs from posting on them down low? Sisley or Dvries aren't big enough to stop bigs guys pushing them back down low for easy buckets. Gotta get two bigs that can defend and rebound to kick out on fast breaks.
How are teams with those types of fellas gonna guard our 5 players that can all handle the ball, shoot, move, etc...??? And if ALL our guys are willing and effective rebounders, team rebounding is a legit thing.

Again, I know the Warriors death lineup comp is a HUGE stretch...but the concept of it is feasible. In some ways easier pull off in college, in some ways more difficult. There are NBA rules that limit the impact of traditional bigs, to be fair. But on the flip side, there sure are quite a lot more impactful 6-10+ fellas running around, per team, in the NBA than there are in college.

Using Purdue as an example...Cluff and TKR would be handfuls when they caught the ball on the block, if we played without a traditional big. But I'd sure like to blitz ball screens with fast, active, long wings...over slower guys like Oumar Ballo. And then on offense, TKR and Cluff would struggle just as badly guarding and covering guys like DeVries, maybe a kid like the one visiting from Elon.

This was very effective last year on the Amish PG, even after Painter countered with short rolls from TKR. IU was one of the few teams that were successful without hedging or blitzing but Anthony Leal owns Smith ... lol

Did anyone see the money Desmond Claudes agent put out there as an asking price? We're supposed to be in it with BYU and Gonzaga. I'd love the fit of 6'5, 6'6, 6'7, 6'7 around a legit center. But to even whisper you think Claude is worth 4.5m immediately makes him disliked by the entire fan base. That's Thiam money.

Hmmm...I'm all for filling the roster with elite perimeter players...but at that kind of money, not sure he's a huge need for us?
