The problem is that the Investigation started around 2018 when Trump was POTUS. The DOJ/ SDNY was full of Trump supporters who worked to sabotage the case from within. That's according to Geoffrey Berman who was fired by Barr/Trump because he wanted to pursue charges not just vs Cohen, but possibly Trump as well...
Berman discovered that he had "resigned" from press releases in June 2020...
"Berman’s firing caps a remarkable 24 hours that encompassed a power struggle over the leadership of the most prominent prosecutors’ office outside Washington – one that has prosecuted one of Trump’s lawyers, is investigating another and has probed the activities of the President himself.
During a meeting at a Manhattan hotel in New York on Friday, Barr had asked Berman to resign, but Berman refused, CNN reported, and hours later Barr issued a statement saying Berman had “stepped down.” Two hours later, around 11 p.m. ET, on Friday, Berman said he had learned of his purported exit from a press release."
To anyone perplexed as to why Barr would still plan to vote for Trump after publicly condemning him, I would maintain that is a continuation of Barr's actions any time Trump was actually threatened with legal consequences. He issued the phoney summary of the Mueller report to set the narrative prior to it's release. He was complicit in Trump's desire to fire Berman after Berman's refusal to exclude Rudy and Trump from possible inclusion in the Cohen case.
And yet to hear ignorant Trumpers tell it, the "weaponization" of the DOJ is a Biden/Garland invention.People either have etxremely short memories, they're hypocrits who engage in disingenuous tactics or both...
Btw Berman is a Republican and was a Trump nominee.
And Jack Smith is an Independent who started his career prosecuting mob cases. Experience prosecuting mobsters seems to be a common thread among folks trying to bring Trump to accountability.
I'm sure that's just a coincidence...
