So, the shooter was wearing a Right Wing Militia t-shirt

What's wrong with a Pride event? You gonna call him a fag next? In addition to being wrong so often, you're a hypocrite and a bigot to boot. Great combo, Mendeleev.
Nothing wrong with it at all, unless you're MAGA. I wouldn't call it an insult, but he would, being a MAGA moron.

Why would the Biden campaign need to halt its ads?

thoughts and prayers!
Because Biden, unlike many GOP candidates/ reps who have featured guns in their ads doesn't even want to give the appearance of inciting physical violence..

Since the kid was from PA and his family flew Trump flags and signs, maybe he was inspired by Oz's infamous "skeet shooting" ad...

I wonder if that young GOP voter that shot at Trump used any of the weapons featured in this Massie family Christmas card?

That's bullshit, and you know it. Anyone who has paid attention to the garbage you've posted through the years knows it, too. You're a bigot and a hypocrite who has the gall to claim otherwise, thinking no one notices or remembers what you've posted in the past.

You've put yourself in a position where no one with a reasonable opinion even bothers to defend you when your BS is pointed out because everyone knows you are.

Hooky, I haven't seen it in print either, but the news clip from the local Pittsburgh CBS news affiliate on what they know about the shooter did mention it. I too would be surprised in this day and age.

***EDIT*** In Print Form

"Speaking to ABC News, Crooks' elementary and high school classmate Jameson Myers said Crooks tried to join the rifle team at Bethel Park High School in his junior year but was rejected during a "preseason" session and asked not to return.

"He didn't just not make the team," Myers said. "He was asked not to come back because how bad of a shot he was, it was considered like, dangerous." He said Crooks never returned to try-outs for the remainder of high school."

Cosmic, up until recently Dems associated themselves with firearms too. It was a way to relate to their mostly white, blue collar constiuents who considered themselves hunters, shooters and sportsmen. Firearms, hunting and shooting sports are interwoven in the fabric of this country. The more politicians associate their voters with traditions like that, the more apt they are to have a firearm in a campaign ad or photo op

Back to the shirt...I'd say Demolition Ranch is a page/ group for 2nd Amendment enthusiasts, and for various reasons most of those who are outspoken on this issue seem to be from the Right. That's probably why young Crooks patronized their site and bought their merch...

His father is actually a registered Libertarian, and is reporteed to own over 200 weapons. WAPO is reporting that the weapon his son used Sat was purchased 11 yrs ago.

Neighbors have indicated that until recently the family displayed Trump/MAGA signs in their yard. Since his Mom is a registered Dem, his Dad a Libertarian and he registered as a Pub when he turned 18 there is no way to determine who in the family were the Trump supporters. So we don't know if Thomas was a Trump hater, lover or indiferent. Several of his classmates characterized him as "conservative", compared to his more liberal classmates...

FBI search of the home turned up some firearms but not over 200. News stories are saying "more than a dozen". If it was over 200, that would be the lede.

I don't disagree with anything you've said. My point was to expose what I saw in hypocrisy in MITOF's post where he asked why Biden would need to halt his ads. I could be wrong, but the implication I took was that Biden's ads are to blame for the heated rhetoric and heightened political climate

I don't think that's true at all, which is why I posted ads that preceeded any rhetoric from Biden that the Right tries to claim is "inflammatory". I didn't even go into detail, like Truth Social posts where the various judges in the Trump case were pictured in cross hairs. And some of those Trump retweeted

Trump is as much to blame for the volence pervading political discourse as anyone...

Thanks for the clarification.

Both parties need to tone it down. They seem to just one up the other in each cycle with more outrageous comments. Not sure where it goes from "literally Hitler".

I may have meant "purchased" over time rather than owned (Currently). I was just adding context to Dad's libertarian leanings. And also the fact that even though Thomas bought ammo at a local gun shop on Sat the weapon he used was actually purchased when he was around 10 yrs old...

I still maintain that a possible motive may be Thomas considering Trump not strong and absolutist enough on gun rights...

Honestly, a couple of hundred guns passing through a gun enthusiast's hands in the course of a few decades isn't that big of a surprise. One of my best friends is constantly getting something different and then selling it to buy something else or trading it for something else until he gets bored with it or sees the next one that he "has to have". He's slowed down now, but in the few years after his last deployment in in 2006, I shot more off the wall stuff with him than I knew existed.

Also, my son had and still has access to guns that I've had since I was 10, let alone something from when was 10.

I think if you're not active in that culture, it's hard to understand how common some of this stuff is. I just shake my head when the headline is a "Cache of weapons discovered" and it's 5 guns, 800 rounds of ammo and a scope. That's just a range day.

That's one of my biggest gripes about Trump, BTW. He's enacted more gun control by EO than either dem before or after him, yet he'll tell you he's a "2A Champion".

I'm planning to enjoy Shakespeare in the park. Had a lovely early morning ride to the beach on Sunday. I could meet you for lunch at Okeechobee Steakhouse, or Food Shack.... oh wait, you're more of a Cracker Barrel / Applebees type
Will the play be in

Please understand that time stamp isn't for Biden's tweet.
I know, IIRC (I am not reading back through the thread), I was actually addressing two points. First point was, let's not do the "MAGAs are violent, blah, blah, blah" stuff when their candidate was the one who was shot (that is the paragraph I wrote). The second point was against the idea that Democrats haven't been as inciteful as MAGA, my counterpoint was the Tweet.

On the day of the shooting what Biden said was appropriate. I just didn't make it concisely clear that I was making two points with that post as opposed to it all being one point.

That’s kind of like when I see a stat that says the first time a rookie basketball player has hit 5 threes, 7 rebounds, 9 assists, playing against the Pacers. It’s rather specific and doesn’t prove much. And I still disagree that Giffords wasn’t political.
Now I’m going to make a post about all the times that Dems have been targeted but the assaulter failed.
You can disagree all you want but you’re wrong about Giffords. It was misogyny and paranoid schizophrenia. He hated Bush as much as Giffords. Read up on it.

That's sort of the point I was making regarding possible motivation for the shooting...It's starting to sound as if Crook's problem with Trump was because he didn't consider Trump right wing enough for his liking...Maybe he had the same issue with Trump that you voiced above...

Maybe he was watching/listening to this on air conversation from Info wars about 5 months back?Check out this discussion between Alex Jones and Ivan Raiklin on the benefits of "the left" assassinating Trump..I wonder if young Thomas was an infowars/Alex Jones fan? At the very least an "interesting" conversation for two far righties to be having on air...

As regarding the guns owned by the father, I wasn't making a value judgement.I was simply pointing out the numerous purchases he made as a registered Libertarian as evidence of the importance he, and possibly his son, placed on the 2A.

And thanks to a report from Channel 4 (UK) we know that the Trump Campaign (at least in 2016) considered the Crooks family as the exact type of gun enthusiasts they viewed as a key constituency...

I tried to isolate that video, but I can't find a link. It is embedded within this MTN vieo, starting at about the 10 minute mark. This kind of info combined with neighbor's describing them having pro-Trump yard signs would seem to cast serious doubts on any attempts to characterize them as "Trump haters"...

Or influenced by "violent rhetoric" from Joe Biden...Now Alex Jones may be a different story...

Posting Meidas Touch propaganda is like dbm posting Charlie Kirk. Hard pass.

What kind of creepy weirdo who is a far left nut goes around calling 7 graders he doesn’t know lesbians 🤣🤣
Most of them.

Had a shitlib mom on our old Bloomington team telling wife and I, outta the blue, it would be OK if our daughter became a lesbian because "most of the good soccer players are"...

She was 10.

Lady was like giddy with excitement over the future possibilities.

To be fair to OS, McM did take a shot at his wife.
The Great McMurtry Shooter Feud of '24 is just kind of window dressing, TBH. However, when he brought Murt's kid into it, that was a new low for him. I view shooter as what I called him, a bigoted hypocrite. Occasionally my BS tank gets full and before I can empty it, the excess splatters back onto the bullshitter who is in front of me at the moment. I'd like to say I'm defending the good people who he disparages on a constant basis, but it's way more selfish than that. I just like trolling him by pointing it all out for meltdown reactions. I got one, so I'll back off for a while.
