Slate. This seems absolutely brilliant

Jet, have you had any dealings with Dallara?
I worked as a weekend crew for Team Pelfrey in Indycar for a year. 98-99.
Crewed at Louden, Orlando. Charlotte , Atlanta, Dallas. Phoenix,Indy in '99,
Worked in the shop before that and '98 and early '99.
Got to help unpack and assemble two brand new Dallara's.

Was at Charlotte when IRL ran there in '98 when the wheel/brake assembly got into the stands.

Did the Pit Sign for Robby Unser in the '99 Indy 500.

The team ran Roush engines...not the best option, but less $.

Ya know in TV and the Movies, Hollywood never showed ya what really happens when you get airborne in a vehicle. I remember cruising around as a teenager with my buddies in my Monte Carlo, discussing what would happen if we tried some Smokey and the Bandit type shite and decided to use an burmed railroad crossing to test our theory.

Needless to say, when I hit that crossing at about 35-40 MPH we were 4 wheels off the ground, all 4 of us were thrown up into the roof, bottomed out so hard on the landing that all my rings and center caps flew off in every direction, ripped part of the exhaust off and knocked a bunch of shit loose. We gathered up all the rings and caps, the exhaust and muffler then limped it to a Nationwide Auto Parts store where I bought some flex pipe. clamps and hangers and between that and the True Value hardware store I got everything cobbled back together. The thing never was quite right after that.

The wife fell in love with the 3.8 V6 in the first car we bought together for her, a 1987 Olds Delta 88 2 door. Metal flake maroon exterior with button leather maroon interior. Had the FE3 suspension package which made it sit up in the back a little, and brushed aluminum alloy spoke rims with white letter Goodrich TA radials. Looked alot like this...

That was the first of 7 GM models she has had with the 3.8/3800 motor. This one, 3 Buicks (a Regal and 2 LeSabres) and 3 Pontiacs (2 Bonnevilles and a Grand Prix). 2 Of the 3 Pontiacs were the turbo flavor.
Robert Guerrero won the pole at Indy in ‘92 with a 3.8 turbo engine variant, using a stock block. Crashed on the parade lap, but that engine could be made a beast, 800+ hp with almost 60 lbs of boost.

I had a couple 3800 - Pontiacs. Great engine.

Likely late 60's.
My buddies name was Bill Jones. He used to run a '69 GTO (I tihnk) and a '70 Impala with a bitchin' 450. Rocket ships.

He got that Goat to almost 150 one time and I thought we were goners. Those telephone poles were going by like fence posts.

I think he burned more rubber showing off in the parking lot than he did driving them.

My first really fast car was a '69 427 4-speed Corvette coupe, followed by a built small block '69 Corvette Coupe. I have a '91 Corvette ZR-1 in my garage and my driver is a 2000 fixed roof coupe with Halltech, chip, heads, headers, Z06 brakes, shifter, and Corsa cat delete exhaust. Light Metallic pewter with chrome C-6 wheels, fully tinted, lowered on it's own bolts, Pioneer double-din with IPhone and Samsung os and Bluetooth...backup cam..13" Sub in trunk.
Yes, it's fast.

You are the guy here who will appreciate that I just got a an unopened DVD set of Indy Through the Decades off of eBay. My derelict buddies and I watch it when we get back from Carb Day. It used to be aired on a local network but we haven’t been able to locate it for years. The DVDs will be a huge surprise for the boys in a few weeks.
