Sarah Sanders tossed out of restaurant by enraged owner.... politely leaves

A thousand words:

trump-feelings-1.jpg

We are supposed to be outraged because an administration official was asked to leave a restaurant?

Actually no. I am not particuluarly outraged. “Outage” is not the issue here. I’m disappointed with the trend. Restaurants and places of public accomdations have never selected customers in this manner. Sure, we have biker bars, gay bars, sports bars, and the spouts and white wine joints. I don’t think any of them would refuse to serve a non-group member. Any pub in Belfast shows more tolerance.

This is moral preening. Period. The owner said she made a moral decision and would do it again. Then she said the staff took a vote on ousting Sanders. What better virtue signaling is there than to have a vote and convert that vote to your “morality”?

We are entering 3rd world politics. Next up is more violence.

Certainly politicians don’t deserves safe spaces from peaceful protest or even confrontation (of course, spitting at Republicans is not peaceful). You want to make their lives miserable, humiliate them, and show everyone how principled and right-thinking you are, by all means stop them from having those chimichangas. That’ll teach ‘em.

But don’t fool yourself into self-idealization. You’re no budding MLK. No matter what you think of Trump, you’re still an insufferable a–h-le. You’re a member of a tribalist, blindered mob, imbued with a false sense of certitude that allows you justify incivility. That is to say, you’re like a Twitter troll made real.

It should be noted that this kind of harassment isn’t widespread in the real world, but it is widely rationalized, justified, and celebrated by liberals on social media. Many of the Left have convinced themselves that Trump administration — elected in a free and legal election and, to this point, comporting with the laws of American governance — should all be in front The Hague.

It isn’t only about child separation of illegal immigrants. It’s about tax cuts. It’s about Obamacare. It’s about long-standing conservative positions. According to many, Republicans are accomplices to murder. The hysterics that bloom with every debate are creating a swelling exasperation among Democrats that borders on religiosity. Apparently this excuses almost any behavior or rhetoric.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station,” said Rep. Maxine Waters, erstwhile outlier of the irrational hateful Left and now-hero of the Resistance, “you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” Create a crowd, huh? Not welcome anywhere? That’s a tough spot.

The problem is that it's not just Hollywood lamebrains and jejune social justice idiots that have been infected, it's the entire liberal/progressive side of the country, starting with the literary/media elites who give them their marching orders.

They are all having a nervous breakdown and it keeps getting worse, because... because.... because Trump.

But I have news for them. It's not at all about Trump. It's about them.

You’re right. It isn’t all about Trump. It’s about his supporters who turn a blind eye and ear to everything he does. It’s about people who have lost their moral compass to follow a morally bankrupt man and his administration. You can pretend it’s about tax cuts, but they are actually more and more unpopular. If you think people standing up against this administration for their taking children from their families and pushing through racist decisions such as today’s Muslim ban is having a nervous breakdown, I’m ok with that. I’m confident I’m on the right side of history.

Let me ask you this. Are you ok with what happened to Sanders? Was it right?
Sure I'm fine with it. I feel bad for about 3,000 children and their families, not some lying shill who pretends to be a Christian , yet supports these injumane policies. I imagine she will live just fine after being denied a meal. I think they should have served them to avoid the distraction . But she, Trump, Betsy DeVos, Scott Pruitt, Mitch McConnell deserve every single bit of pushback they get. Not violence, of course, but do I care that they are shunned by decent, moral people? Not a single bit. They will pay the price with their place in history and it won't be pretty.

Horrible thing to actually be outraged by atrocities. More horrible thing to be a Christian who ignores what's going on, yet goes to church on Sunday and pretends to be pious, like Sarah. Trump doesn't even pretend, but still has the evangelicals conned.

Milo has been finished to the point of being a fringe voice at this point. Not that he ever had much clout to begin with.

Remember a few months ago when @TheOriginalHappyGoat was trying to argue he was a central Conservative voice?

He had quite a following, until he made some comments that even conservatives couldn't ignore. Bannon had quite a following too yet no one here ever admitted hearing his name, or Gorka's. or Miller's. Milo had a bigger role in where we are than people like Will, or Kristol, or Beck. All opposed Trump and all lost. Breitbart won.

So can the grocery store deny Sarah from shopping there? You talk about inhumane policies and guess you are talking about the kids at the border. Were you aware that Obama separated families too? Did you have as much outrage when he did it far more than Trump has? Also the President signed an executive order to keep families together. Were you aware of this and have you thought about how no other President who could have done this did not do it?

We literally had this discussion with you last week.I even linked to the relevant thread, and in response you posted some nonsense about not having the time to read EVERY thread...

Btw, how do you square your comments about Obama here, with the oft repeated claim from Trump and other idiots that Dems want OPEN borders? It's like you guys are arguing among yourselves over what aspect of Obama's Immigration policy to be more outraged by and which manufactured outrage you want to stress. Trump wants to push the "open borders" meme, and you seem to be opting for the "Media hypocrisy" line.
Which is it?

Just because parents and kids were separated doesn't mean the left doesn't want open borders. The kids several years ago under Obama were taken to live throughout the U.S. with American families. What they want is to bring in the parents later if they can get it done. But the families are separated which is what everybody is going crazy about these days.

VPM, you would do well to actually listen to what people have to say, and try to learn some things. All you do is spout nonsense right-wing talking points, and when people try to engage you, you disappear, and then come back later and repeat the same nonsense right-wing talking points.

Maybe, if you engaged liberals honestly, if you paid attention to facts, if you actually tried to understand what others are saying to you, you'd take in all this new information, and decide you were right all along, and your opinions would be strengthened by being tested and surviving. But you'll never know, because you steadfastly refuse to test them. You simply accept as truth what your biased sources tell you, and you don't bother to put any mental effort whatsoever into exploring them.

How is it talking points to just look at what the left is saying? They want open borders. I bet you want open borders but might be too afraid to admit it. The left wants open borders for several reasons. They want future Democrat voters. Second, they think we stole the wealth we have and so we owe the poor countries we stole from. Thirdly, and I don't hold this view as strongly. I think some on the left want to destroy the middle class so that the change to a socialist country would be a lot smoother to implement.

Goat -- why do you bother? For some of these folks, the 'facts' have already been baked into their heads regardless of what information that you bring up to disprove it. This is the state of the affairs in the country -- smart but a cynical move by Trump and likely to remain so for the foreseeable future.

This is where your post fails. This isn't what the left is saying. It's what the right is saying about the left. The fact that you can't tell the difference speaks volumes, and proves my comments to you were well-founded.

Open your mind. Give it a try. I can tell you from experience, it's well worth it.

Cheers.

Hearing current GOP supporters complain about lack of civility is both very rich and shows an immense lack of self awareness. In the last week in Nevada, Rosenstein and Warren talked about healthcare to residents. Trump called them Wacky Jackie and Pocahontas and then went into a tirade about how they support MS13.

Aggrieved. It all there is with this version of the GOP. They need right wing media to remind them that they are aggrieved. Every. Day. It’s example 88,532 that the current policy is simply to act in bad faith.

I have been hard on fellow Dems for incivility, but it is interesting that Republicans excuse things like Trump's name calling and Trump urging his supporters to physically assault a protester as "Trump being Trump" or "Dems are just too sensitive about these things". Said Republicans are certainly having a double standard on the Red Hen.

@Marvin the Martian How does one be civil with those who seek to harm and destroy them and their families? I'm waiting for Republicans to start demanding that homeowners be civil when burglars break into their homes with the intent to rape and murder.

There’s nothing remotely interesting about it. It’s sheer idiocy.

Think of "interesting" as a civil way of saying "hypocritical". There is irony as well, they might oppose Trump banning Muslims from the US entirely as long as he appoints a Supreme Court Justice that would vote to allow such a ban.

Again, I think hypocritical is too kind. “Hypocritical” means, to me, a refusal to hold oneself to agreed upon and stated standards. Since they don’t genuinely share those standards, I think “fraud” is the more accurate term.

Edit to add: Everybody has some hypocrisy. It’s a human failing. But not everybody is a fraud. That’s particularly deplorable. But I think accuracy requires calling that out.

Lord what horseshit these last few posts have been.

First, the Constitution grants the executive the authority to exercise the powers that Trump did. Period. So yes, as long as there is some rational reason for the policy to be instituted, then it is perfectly fine and legal. If you do not like it, vote him out.

Second, also pertaining to the "Muslim ban", there are several Muslim countries that were not included in the ban. It is not a ban of Muslims, it is a ban on citizens from certain countries. Now those countries happen to be Muslim, but there is a reason outside of their religion for why they find themselves on the list.

Third, Barack Obama's administration picked the damn countries on the list.

Finally, yes Trump says stupid stuff. Calling people names is not helpful and I wish people would take his Twitter account away. However, if you cannot see the difference between name calling and refusal of service, getting in the face of people pumping gas, spitting at someone attending a movie, throwing water in the face of someone eating dinner with their family, and screaming at people having dinner in a restaurant then that is on you.

On us, there are many quotes of Trump that I could list here but I will just list one, “If you do (hurt him), I’ll defend you in court, don’t worry about it”. Now tell me how that is on me. If you think that is a one off, look at “Knock the crap out of him, would you? I promise you, I will pay your legal fees”. Source for both.

Those were not tweets. Those are exhorting people to do violence. That is more than saying "stupid stuff" and if you can't see the difference, that is on you.

Van, there is no point have any discussion with you. People can tell you the same thing 100 times and it refuses to break through from wherever you got your talking points. You claim to not watch Fox, yet you parrot every single one of their lies. President Obama did not separate families. The children they had came over by themselves. This is a new policy that Sessions announced. Of course I'm aware that after much outrage and pressure Trump signed an EO for 20 days. Are you aware that it is still going on? Are you aware that a judge ruled his policy is illegal? Are you aware we were condemned by the UN? Does that make you proud to be an American? I really don't care what happens to Sanders, Trump, Sessions, Mitch, and several others in the administration who constantly lie to us and propel these inhumane policies. They get harassed for being horrible humans. I'm a little more concerned with the more and more people gettingvandalized and verbally abused for the color of their skin, because Trump has made it cool to do that. Have you seen the video someone posted of an elderly woman in the face of a Hispanic man doing his job? I read today of two more stories, one starting a business in Indy that has been vandalized with threats and another electrician who had a noose hanging and the N word written. This is now an every day occurance in Trumpland. This is what he meant by Making America Great Again. . Taking it back to a point in time where only white people were comfortable living in America. So I'm much, much more concerned about that than some millionaires getting uncomfortable questions or being asked to leave a restaurant and getting their feelings hurt. As a Christian, I'd think that would be your concern too.
