Rounding out the 2021 Class

That's where all the info is.

Please tell us, old wise one, where I'm wrong, once again.

I mean, the kid's only quoted as saying his dad doesn't want to coach him in college, so take it for what it's worth.

By the way, how is Matt Cross doing at Duke?
You’re regurgitating the opinions of others and trying to pass it off as something you actually know. Just find the insincerity amusing. By the way, your take on Stanford football wasn’t accurate, either. Plenty of players get their degrees in four years and play their fifth season of eligibility by taking additional undergraduate classes. It goes on everywhere, including at IU, and is perfectly within the rules.

I regurgitate quotes from a kid that was spoken directly from him. How am I suppose to get those if he wasn't interviewed? I read the articles that are written. That's what they are for. Information. Stop being a troll.

And my info isn't bad on Stanford. Here's a article about the situation. Again, a player has a quote in it about how tough it is to get in graduate school in Stanford. I always said I didn't know if you had to get your degree in four years so if you don't, that's news to me, I truly don't know. But here's a article on Stanford's transfer situation.

And your wrong on the fifth year situation. Entering the fifth year, if they have received their degree, they have to graduate transfer or get accepted in a masters program. If they have not graduated, they have to be working toward the degree the fifth year, meaning, you can't be at the school for the fifth year and graduated without working towards your original degree.

Coming from the guy promoting Braden Smith, a smaller, poor mans luke brown.
Do you know who disagrees with you on this? It's someone that actually has a say in recruiting: Archie Miller. They've had Braden Miller on campus for at least one visit and he even attended a game. Brown? 0 visits. Do the math and then give up on the notion that Brown will get a scholarship offer from IU.

I said "not garnishing much interest". I would say an offer from hometown Indiana State and Ball State falls in the category. But you don't see the better MAC teams Akron/Toledo/Ohio offering him nor the better MVC teams. There's a reason why he only has a slew of offers. He isn't being recruited by IU. Period.
Larry Bird played at Indiana state HA! HA! coach want to be! lol

No one is disparaging Indiana State dude. But the fact that Indiana State is Brown's best offer tells you he's not a B10 caliber player. Larry Bird also committed to Indiana first if that tells you anything.

Er, so? Do you think the Ole Miss, LSU, and Georgia football programs should be targeting the same recruits as Mississippi Valley State...just because Jerry Rice went there? I mean, he's only the most dominant offensive player in NFL history.

What a dumb post.

Luke Brown is a fine Indiana HS player and has a good shot at contributing for a mid-major. It wouldn't be best for him or for IU (or Purdue, for that matter) for him to burn up a scholarship and ride the pines for 4 years in the B10.

As an Aces fan, I've been hoping UE would go after him.

No, you don’t understand. Plenty of players entering their fifth year have earned a degree but continue to compete because they enroll in additional undergraduate classes, often pursuing a second major. They aren’t forced to leave the team then. If you’d read the Stanford article, it’s why Shaw leaves the door open for them to return. Many do so by simply pursuing a second major. This has been the case for decades. And it’s “you’re”, not “your”. College.

Whatever Will Be, Will Be The Future's Not Ours To See! Or maybe time will tell on cool hand Luke! LOL

You need to look at the guidelines for the NCAA requirements that I linked.

The only way that would work is if said player declared the second major and had already completed 80% of his coursework for said major. Otherwise, he would have to be in a masters program somewhere. If I'm wrong, provide some documentation somewhere, but everything I've seen shows me I'm not.

And I did read the Stanford article. Did you notice the part where they said that some of the masters programs are virtually impossible to get into. That's why Shaw doesn't mind players looking around.

And you can continue correcting my spelling mistakes. That's what happens when I type to fast on my phone. By the way, how is the feedback that Antonio Davis is getting for TJD?

If they’re in their fifth year and are pursuing a second major, they’ve already achieved the 80% standard. This has literally been going on for decades, as I knew several people who competed at IU who did this. Shaw didn’t mind players looking around but they were able to return via the undergraduate route. Again, this isn’t new. As for the recruiting stuff, pretending you know what’s going on is the height of insincerity, so it’s funny to read your posts when you try so hard to appear to have inside information.

You never answered my question on Matt Cross, ole' wise one....

I'm done with you. You are boring me. You can have the last word because you can't help yourself and for some reason, need to interject yourself where it's not needed. Shame on me for the taking the bait of the board troll. Have a good night and happy fishing.

Antonio? You mean Dale?

Our needs could change if TJD has a strong year and leaves early.

Kaufman is very important for a bunch of reasons, but softening the potential “blow” of TJD leaving after this year is right up there as the top reason.

If Kaufman does sign, then I’d say a perimeter scorer/shooter would be at the top of the remaining needs list. Then another big or two.

All in all, I like where we’re sitting.

That’s been answered several times, and you only raise it because you’re unable to combat the facts that disprove what you’ve said. It’s why your posts are so laughable.

Not going to be much IU can do for the 2021 if TJD has a good year and bolts. Will likely have our two remaining scholarships filled before the season even starts so really need a commitment out of Kaufman.

Good news is if he has a good enough year to bolt, likely makes us a better team in the process.

If that were to happen, Race would have to anchor the post, and then guys like Jerome and even Demezi if he’s still around, will have to guard and rebound with some bigs. Obviously Trey would help out immensely with that. And Logan would get an opportunity as well.

Grad transfer route might be necessary too.

Odds are it’ll be our next coach’s problem at that point. Hopefully they’ll bring talent with them.

5 guards returning in 20-21. They need a PG for 21-22, and they need about 2 more guys 6'9" or taller. Kaufman seems like a great recruit, but after that they need both a big and a PG and they don't have room for both currently.

I know who his dad is. Ord said that TJD's dad was Antonio so since he always likes to correct people, I was just letting him have it a little bit.
Says the guy who claims to be a fan and didn’t know the simplest of eligibility rules! “Your” truly ignorant.

They have a center already committed for 2021 and a PG who’s reclassifying in Lander. I’m confused?

21-22 season roster should look like this

Seniors
Phinisee
Thompson
Anderson

Juniors
TJD (if he stays)
Franklin
Hunter

Sophomores
Leal
Galloway
Geronimo
Lander

Freshman
Duncomb
2 available schollies

They would have 2 PG’s for 21-22 in Phinisee and Lander. Assuming Kaufman commits and TJD stays they had 6’9 TJD, 6’9 Thompson, 6’9 (?) Duncomb, and 6’8 Kaufman. In the event TJD leaves IU would likely go the transfer route.

Too bad about DeAndre Williams. I mean, I have been kinda expecting it, but still too bad. I hope the Aces can get back near the level they were in the 80s earlier 90s.

As of now, we should expect that they lose 2 PGs after 22. Thus, instead of starting a freshman, they need a sophomore.

After 21, they lose Brink and Smith and will lose TJD either after 21 or 22 (along with Thompson). The only replacement is Duncomb. Keep in mind they already have no replacement for Davis.

Weak - especially by your low standards.

C’mon, Ordy! Give such a pathetic response because you’re putting too much thought into your next username? :D
Asks the King of Lowered Expectations. You’re just another nope in whose head I live, rent free. Great for me, normal for you.

Realistically you’re not going to get a third PG for the 21-22 season unless it’s a lower rated guy. Who is going to want to sit behind Lander and Phinisee? They end up redshirting anyway. I have no problem starting a freshman PG so long as he’s surrounded by competent talent. The 2022 class is loaded with PG’s especially in Central IN.

Coming in as a freshman with a graduating senior is not a bad spot, especially for a PG, that's not a 5 star. Especially in our situation as Lander might be looking to bolt early at some point.

Thanks Mr. Negativity. I know, I know, you are just being realistic. BS and furthermore,
