RIP Ivana

Beast looking? The guys mom just died suddenly and you're insulting his wife. Liberals are miserable, miserable people.
Yep. Classless.

At least he didn’t start a Trump death list because she was getting ready to be called as a witness at the 1/6 hearings. You’d have to be a really pathetic person to do something like that every time someone dies.

That’s nothing compared to all the conservatives saying a 10 year old Ohio girl that was raped and then traveled to indiana to have an abortion was not true.

On top of that, Indiana AG , Todd Rokita, says he’s investigating the doctor who preformed the abortion. You bastards would make that 10 year old girl have the baby. That’s truly miserable.

I saw what Rokita was up to. Truly vile.

Now hold on. How does having an abortion bring any kind of healing to a 10 yr old who was raped? What if she gave the baby up for adoption. She could know that this child born out of violence could do something good in the world. Maybe that would bring better healing than having an abortion.

Holy shit. Maybe you should shut the f up.

Or, just thinking out of the box here, the pregnancy would be a constant reminder of the horrible things that she went through. You know, trauma and stuff.

Why should a child that age have to go through such a thing when she didn't choose to go through it?

See how easy this silliness is. And while I'm all for keeping it classy, your cult leader denigrates prisoners of war and countless other tasteless comments.

Wacko Rokita is a true RINO.

Instead of being a true Republican, Wacko Rokita is really just a Trump clone, demanding more power than his predecessor officeholders have ever claimed or demanded, using his claimed "support" of Trump as a fake strategy to get reelected or elevated to a higher office. He has already irritated other state Republicans:

Why in the hell (other than vote-seeking) does Wacko Rokita think he needs to announce his investigation of this particular doctor (whom he named)? Don't serious investigators conduct their investigations in a private manner? (Like, does the FBI ever have a spokesman say, "Hi, I'm from the FBI and I'd to tell the whole world that I'm investigating XYZ, so please whatever you do do not hide your evidence from me about XYZ."?)

Indiana is, like, a 65-70 % red state. Wacko Rokita's announcement of his investigation of the doctor (whom he named) runs totally counter to any suggestion that Wacko Rokita is running a serious investigation. How can this person think he can't get reelected in a 65-70% red state unless he publicly attacks a doctor he hasn't investigated yet? He can't.

Question: Does Todd Rokita have any female members of his own family who have ever had an abortion?

She has already gone through tremendous heartache. I feel terrible for her. My argument is how can you lessen the trauma. I don't think that the abortion achieves the healing she needs. Man, this is a messed up situation. There are no great decisions. Each has its own set of problems. I mentioned in another thread that the Evangelist James Robison was the product of a date rape. His mother went ahead and had him. He grew up, got married, had kids, and grandkids. I would think his mother was glad she had him.

How so? There are not great decisions here. All of them stink. Mine at least gives the child a chance and for the 10 yr old rape victim to find some kind of healing and closure. The damage has been done by this monster.
Ummm, No. 10 year old bodies are not suited to bring full term pregnancies to term.
Bringing that baby to term could likely have long term physical detriments to her body. The odds that she would never be able to get pregnant again are decently high. And that doesn't even begin to cover the emotional trauma.

No, the "damage" would not have been "done". It would have gotten much, much worse.

These are the people who don't believe vaccines work. VPM spends his days reading and preaching Bronze Age folklore to his "flock".

No way anyone is going to change these lunatics mind if they think a 10 year old rape victim should bring a pregnancy to term.

Their minds are unsound.

Van, when they say they want to hear options and ideas here. What they actually mean is, you take their opinion or else.

I agree with you, there are no good ideas here. Sometimes you have to choose the least worse. And for the record, I am damn happy I don't have to make this decision!

This is truly not a criticism: That’s your opinion. Clearly others think differently. Because as good intentioned as you may be, how you would feel or how you think you would feel have no relevance to this particular girl

In these situations, shouldn’t we be satisfied that such a personal and traumatic situation is decided between the girl, her parents, and her doctor?

Assuming she could carry a baby to term safely (which I’m skeptical of), would she be happier for having done it in retrospect? Possibly, I guess. Are any of us remotely qualified to make that decision for her? Hell to the no. This case is the most clear cut example of “her body, her choice.”

Glad to see you stay engaged on this rather than just post something and not respond to the replies you get.

Here's the thing for me. I'm perfectly willing to agree that the kind of outcome that Robison's mother had is a potential outcome, but I'm also perfectly willing to agree that the kind of outcome that Baller suggests is one as well. I have no possible way to really understand the trauma the victim might have, the specifics of their personality, or the way they might react physically, mentally, and spiritually to completing the term of the pregnancy. I'm much more comfortable with the girl and her parents making the decision in consultation with their doctors and anyone else they choose to include in that conversation than I am with the government doing so.

And I don't think it was you that asked, but I don't support capital punishment.
