Radicalization of young women

Your connection of the dots is unsupported. Re meeting the next argument, that's the logic you're using. It's wrong. You've established nothing more than a correlation. McM's correlation is much stronger and explains more (and also can't be proven to be a cause, I'm guessing). Plus, not that I put a ton of weight in the authority card, but McM, lars, and I all have teenage daughters. We see this on a daily basis with them and their friends. It's pretty obvious.

Young women today aren't facing more mental health issues because they are liberal. Liberal political messaging isn't causing women to take anti anxiety medication.

You're also contradicting yourself--you state more women are taking anxiety meds and that the effects of anxiety disorders would lead them to think liberally. But you're completely missing the fact that anxiety meds work. Therefore, you haven't explained the uptick in liberal belief. If anything, based on your reasoning, we should probably expect women to be identifying as conservatives more.
Not sure what raising a girl has to do with anything. But I also raised one , have girl grand kids, most of my high school mock trial teams were girls, and I practiced with many female lawyers.

Here is what is objectively true.

More women have anxiety disorders than men
More women have low self esteem than men.
More women have panic attacks than men
More women have phobias than men.
More women are liberal than men

Liberal political messaging is calculated to secure the votes of those who depend on others. Obama called it Darwin economics.

I think all of that is connected with some commonalities.

I never said women face mental health issues because they are liberal. I said more women are liberal than men, and more women have mental health issues than men.

The internet and social media has been very unhealthy for some young women. Professor @CO. Hoosier the future looks bleak. They're turning more and more of them into socialist. I only have one daughter CO, she'll be an Austrian economist and Bitcoiner, but I can't raise all of them. @mcmurtry66 we need to start the conservative "View" ASAP.
Why do they gripe when they have to pay spousal support to their ex husbands since they just wanted equality?

Read this and tell me that women aren’t under severe propagandist barrage of nonsense. Then add the clip of A’ja Wilson (who went to private school) telling Kelsey Plum that Paige Bueckers got to where she is because she’s white and also good at ball.

The liberal echo chamber of guilt and hogwash is certainly a strong part of destroying women’s mental health.

Lord that's awful.

I mean, the cognitive dissonance is astounding. How is Clark responsible for the racist fans?

My god. The victimhood.

Re your experience, your raising of a girl in the past isn't relevant here, CoH. Look at the graph. Look at when the spike occurred. Times are different. Social media is a real issue for young girls.

Re your objective truths, how do you measure them? By self reporting, correct? There are problems with that method. But let's grant that all of your points are true, in the US. Do they hold true in all other nations and cultures? Why or why not?

More importantly, the things you list have always been true, right? So what explains the graph's exponential uptick?

Re the causal issue, you most certainly said there was a causal link there in your very first post. If you aren't saying being liberal causes mental illness, are you saying that having a mental health issue causes you to be a liberal?

Uhhh...what?

So...a gay dude, that is married to another gay dude, that both pretend they're chicks? Somebody check my math.

“Tonight I felt very uncomfortable,” Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, a Sun fan who has been attending games since 2018, told Andscape. “It was disappointing to see so many people from the area come out to support the opposing team. And on top of it, they had a kind of vitriol for our players that had racial overtones.” Prescod-Weinstein was at the game with their husband. They are both people of color, and Prescod-Weinstein is queer and agender. As a result, “I didn’t feel safe challenging the nasty behavior from the people around me,” Prescod-Weinstein said.

What is "agender"

I was trying to do that math too and gave up. Queer agender? What’s that

This is accepted as common sense in Progressive circles. This is the alternate reality it has created. This is why women are anxious.

Someone should tells these broads to get back in the kitchen where they belong!... I'm kidding I'm kidding! 😂

In seriousness, and without looking it up, id wager that young women have always skewed towards liberal ideals. Particularly young educated women. They have for sure been the leaders of progressivism for a very long time. So saying, thats making them more anxiety driven than before doesn't really track. Probably does cause anxiety but it's always been there. The female species has a deep rooted instinct to protect and nurture at all cost. That's going to cause anxiety. Males have it too but it's different. More broad in nature. More territorial.

Social media is new though. That's the problem. As someone said above, our stupid monkey brains haven't evolved and caught up to the technology yet. We can't process it. It's a 24/7 reminder of what you don't have or what's wrong with you compared to others. I am 100% free speech guy but I do think social media needs some guard rails for minors. Same restrictions and warning we put on any other type of media. The FCC has rules on what sort of programs can be marketed to kids. Maybe social media needs to report to the FCC?

"It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy." George Orwell, 1984.

In my iPhone, I have renamed my best friend Bahbahbooey. He calls about 10 times a day, and when I have my earpods in, I get to hear Siri say "Call from BaBaboeey. Would you like to answer it?" Makes me smile every time.

I am "Boff" in his phone.
Indelicate and goes way back before pc but one of my best friends is a judge. I come up as corky when I call him. Has had it set like that for many years. On everything

Mike McDermott : [siting in a chair in his apartment, with his head looking down] No, what's that?

It's preposterous. But don't worry, it doesn't exist. These radical, insane notions are just creations of Fox News.
Charles Barkley was talking about how bad the WNBA and its players have handled the gift that is Clark. He said those women could not have f$cked it up any worse if they tried. He was disgusted.

Probably true. But there are also pre- dispositional factors

Re your objective truths, how do you measure them? By self reporting, correct? There are problems with that method. But let's grant that all of your points are true, in the US. Do they hold true in all other nations and cultures? Why or why not?
Self report is a factor, but there are also some objective measures. My comments probably don’t apply to many cultures some cultures still have arranged marriages and other women issues not applicable here.

More importantly, the things you list have always been true, right? So what explains the graph's exponential uptick?
Many things including more awareness, more new drugs, more therapists, and as you said, social media.

Re the causal issue, you most certainly said there was a causal link there in your very first post. If you aren't saying being liberal causes mental illness, are you saying that having a mental health issue causes you to be a liberal?
I stand by a causal link. There are several causes and I cannot readily apportion them. Probably different on an individual basis anyway. The gaveman of my comment is that more people will look to government to fill an emotional need or other missing part of their lives. The missing pieces used to be supplied by families , extended families, church and neighbors. Now isolation is a looming problem. (Maybe part of the uptick) Experts who formulate political messaging obviously exploit this. It’s not imaginary. It widens the political gender gap.

I'm with you up to your last sentence.

But remember: there is no such thing as woke. You fvcking fascist.
In absence of other measurable variables that have changed over the course of time, it’s either that a) having careers at a higher rate than before is making them anxious or b) it’s something else.

I refuse to believe that having careers makes them anxious. It’s something else. The societal pressure that progressivism pushes into its adherents is my hypothesis.

You know I’m where woke goes to die! I put that fire right out.

But I don’t think progressivism has any material impact. I think it’s social media. Having kids. Keeping up with all they do. Having a career. Being a strong woman. Looking hot. Keeping up with influencers. Keeping up with friends. Dinner pics. Vaca pics. My daughter made Ecnl mine made a high score on subway surfers. Millennials I know don’t give a shit about politics and they’re all anxious

The totality of what women deal with skirts men. Now divorce one and FCK THEM!!!! You pay pay pay. But….

Why would social media affect women more than men? Other than to remind them of the expectations Progressivism expects of them….and knowing that as white women they will always be guilty of something.

Bc they engage with it differently and spend way more time on it
Is that true?

Also, I’m recalling the Haidt / Rogan interview on his show. I don’t recall the source but Haidt said he found that far and away the female identifying as liberal was the most likely to have a mental illness. The next was men identifying as liberal. Girls identifying conservative were more mentally healthy.

It’s progressivism dude. Period.

To be clear, I don’t think progressives are mentally ill. I am saying that the nonsense that progressivism pushes is more likely to affect one’s mental health than is conservatism.

A natural tangential question to ask is “so what?” Is it that progressives try to tackle the problems or their hypothesized problems more than do conservatives? Perhaps. Conservatives are more likely to place their fate and the fate of others into a God.

I think it’s true. Maybe a guy has 300 friends across platforms. They scroll for 20 minutes a day. These chicks have thousands. And are active and engaging. They aren’t on here. They’re on instagram

I have to disagree. If more of them got off tik tok and got on Bitcoin X, they'd be a lot happier. A solid mix of Saylor, Max&Stacy, Lyn, and a sprinkling of Gogs would help more than an anti-depressant. They also need to eat more steaks.

Insta, snap, tic tok are all apps my middle kid has going at once.

It not uncommon for her boyfriend to come over, her be on her phone and him be in our driveway putting up shots.

"It's how I stay connected to my friends" is what I hear from her. Get off your phone and go grab a friend or two and go find a park or trail to walk... plenty opportunities to catch up then.
