Racist messages at IU

False flag?

Hell, antifa convinces some people antifa isn’t real

Whoever did it sux. We gotta learn to live together. Again. And again.

Live and let live.

Everybody goes their own way in peace.

This is obviously hacks in Russia, China or North Korea sowing discontent in the US. They know the Democrats will be right on this blaming Trump.

Democrats best start listening to Democrats like Harold Ford Jr who can articulate Democrat positions that don’t concentrate on a 1000 isms and phobes.

With no evidence, it could be. It could be the Russians, we can't figure out a way to stop their meddling. It could be racists, and it could be some idiot who just thinks they are being funny.

We do not know. We may never know, there are a lot of ways to hide this. Though the harder it is to find connections the more likely foreign involvement is.

Yep, it can be anything. But it is wrong. The text doesn't seem rude/crude enough to be a real White supremacist but it could be the wannabe, or Russians, or who knows.
The solution is to quit being so sensitive and let shit roll off your back.

The sooner Americans quit being pussies the better off we'll be.

China, Russia, Iran. The fact it is widespread indicates a level of sophistication to me and that is the type of chaos sowing that would be consistent with a destabilization operation. Particularly after an election like we just had.

I don't think some white supremacist goobers pulled this one off.

It's pretty obvious it's a False Flag operation and if the FBI Cyber Task Force is as good as advertised hopefully they'll be able to target the origin shortly...

We need to bomb North Korea back to the stone age. Wish we could the other two.

I hate North Korea and China with a passion. Probably because I had 2 grandpa's fight the bastards.

Since election day, Blacks on campus have been receiving texts telling them the bus to the plantation will pick them up. It is amazing what some people think of as funny or clever.

The scary part is the spammers/scammers could send all those texts and make it appear that it came from your phone.

My bets go in this order:
the Russians
the Chinese
the Iranians
the North Koreans
or some disaffected nut who worked for the Harris Campaign attempting to alert the world to their version of the "evils" of a Trump lead future,

Whoever it is they clearly have access to something paralleling a (stolen) DNC "get out the vote" address list that would seem to have taken a while to compile given its focus, breadth, and depth...

Looks like it's nationwide which makes it sound like a foreign power that's attempting to undermine the very fabric of our country and turn citizens against one another...

Or Jesse Smollett.

Yep. I am not familiar with text security. Spoofing is easily discovered in email.
You are correct about email spoofing but, like you, I don't know how to detemine if a text is from a valid number. However, I will bet 80% of the people don't know how to spot a spoofing email.

Reading comprehension keeps escaping you. Who said it was national news? It is in the local paper, this is an IU forum so of course it is news.
This news happens at several colleges, not just in Indiana. People will become more emboldened with Bigotry and Racism under trump.

If only everyone would apply that same logic filter as you are wisely doing. It’s obviously being done to sow discontent and capitalize on discord and I’m 95% convinced it’s foreign actors - especially with the way it’s worded.

It’ll be interesting to see if those that think Trump won in 2016 “because Russia” will accept that these texts came from Russia or if they’ll only allow Russian blame when it suits them. My money is on the latter.

The US is now full of the easily-mentally-manipulated and propaganda-addicts. We carry our stash around in our pockets.

IU as well as many other universities have a lot of Chinese students. They're even funded by cartel money. So China could very well be responsible for sending these messages.

That is a BS response. You owe Marv an apology.
You people demanding apologies from people on message boards are idiots. People are entitled to their opinion and have the right to voice it here. And no, there will be no apology for this post. Weakstick

Why are you laughing @UncleMark

"According to the authorities, a person in China would move money into the seller’s Chinese bank account and receive the dollar equivalent in the U.S. for use in purchasing real estate, luxury items, and paying tuition. They said cryptocurrency transactions were also used to move the drug money, adding the funds in China are used to buy such goods such as chemicals for making fentanyl and methamphetamine that are then sent to the drug cartels in Mexico."

Probably not. But tell yourself whatever makes you feel better.

I can’t speak to this incident in particular but I will say I expect the media to hammer racism and police brutality in Trumps next term, as they did in his first.

I lt wouldn’t surprise me if it’s even worse now because they really have limited ways of whining after this smack down.

Bloomington does have a lot of Lambo's driven by Chinese kids. 😄

It's fecked up regardless of who is responsible, but is it weird that I feel a sense of relief that this wasn't an isolated event involving only IU? I reckon the last thing we need is some dipshit Bedford hillbilly or disgruntled Bloomington wokey shitting our collective bed.

Then why are MAGA peeps sending racist messages?
You’re a dope. And I mean that in all sincerity. Go tell your kids that MAGA peeps are spreading racist messages. Tell your employer. Show them who you are and how sound are your critical thinking skills.
