I rate Archie as a "too early to tell". Now that said, I think we can all agree he is not a miracle worker. If it was going to happen as if almost overnight, overnight has come and gone. I think we need to stick with him for the potential that he may someday exude, given more time. IU has failed at the "let's get rich again, quickly" method of hiring - always thinking if but our Coach ____ (fill in the blank) was the next Brad Stevens we should have had. IU needs to get over that mentality and stick with what we got. Coach Miller needs our support - let's not make it any more difficult on him than it already inherently is. Take the Coach Al McGuire approach to life, a life filled with rainbows and unicorns, balloons and ice cream cones. No, Archie will never be in the Hall of Fame. He doesn't have to be nor does he need to be because being so may just make him famous enough to get him fired and we hate to think what something like that might bring.Where would you rate CAM against current conference coaches. Is he clearly the best or middle on the pack or what? I would be surprised if anyone even on this board would say he is clearly the best. Thinking for a second about this board i guess i wouldnt be that surprised. Do you expect at the end of the day Arch will be in the hall of fame?
You're obviously a complete idiot. That symbol and what it represents has more value than anything you will accomplish in your sorry ass lifetime. This from a guy that has what looks like an effin Pokemon symbol for an avatar.
At least Crean won two Big Ten titles.Probably same person who said Crean just needed time.
No, there's no correlation, you complete and utter moron ..Aren't the same people who said Crean should be fired the same as those who are calling for Miller's head? .
IU fans today will be happy with a coach who regularly gets us into the NCAA tournament. That is how far we've sunk in expectations but it is the reality of the majority of IU fans today. They are not the minority old gray hairs of yesterday who remember when making regular deep runs into the tournament was the only thing that pleased us. Fans are pleased with achieving more success than what they are accustomed to. Right now, given the reality of the Millennial mindset, making the tournament after a three year absence is good enough - it's success we haven't seen. Then it has to be done on a regular basis for awhile, until a new group comes in and demands more, a success of greater magnitude they have not seen. It's a vicious cycle that always comes full circle. Everything runs it's cycle, including basketball dynasties. It's like starting over and it starts with time. Let's give Archie the time that he needs. Think of it as a courtesy thing. Archie will do a better job if he knows the fans have faith in him. I do. Why can't you?Yup you always need that leadership stability like Castro in Cuba. Cuba really benefitted from his long term leadership.
It depends how far above mediocrity you want to rise. If you want to be a few games above 500 then then a relatively large number of coaches can do it. If you want to lose a handful or games a year and be in the national championship discussion then you need a higher level of coach. You need to be a hall of fame level coach. CAM doesnt provide that.
Are boldface words the same as capitalizing words???No, there's no correlation, you complete and utter moron ..
Crean was obviously a phoney and a fake before he got to IU, that you couldn't see it is not surprising as you know very little about basketball and even less about life and people.
Miller is a basketball coach, not a superficial marketing exec, and we have no clue, yet, if he's the right person for the job. Part of his job is administration and managing not only coaching and only time will tell if he fits and is successful.
The fans and the haters know nothing at this point.. They only guess and feel. One side cheers everything regardless, the other side bitches and moans, regardless. Neither side knows shit, yet.
Different dynamic this time around... I doubt you understand why.
You're obviously a complete idiot. That symbol and what it represents has more value than anything you will accomplish in your sorry ass lifetime.
It’s a Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division based out of Ft Campbell, which is located in Clarksville TN and just south of Hop town KY, how do I know this I served there too. Now, my curiosity is peaked. What the hell is it? It looks like an evil bunny rabbit.
You probably said the same about Crean. Because everyone did. If you can’t see the red flags please sit this one out and let the rational people decide.Talking about firing Archie. Some of you have no clue what it takes to build a roster. And how to develop players. Archie is fine he just needs time..
These people need to b called out. Those that supported Crean in years 6,7 and 8! They won’t admit anythingYou probably said the same about Crean. Because everyone did. If you can’t see the red flags please sit this one out and let the rational people decide.
There was a writer Jacob Rule over at Crimson Quarry who still didn’t want Crean fired in year 9! Unreal he probably posts here. You probably said the same about Crean. Because everyone did. If you can’t see the red flags please sit this one out and let the rational people decide.

Yup. But they’ll deny it now. Same people. There was a writer Jacob Rule over at Crimson Quarry who still didn’t want Crean fired in year 9! Unreal he probably posts here.

It’s a barristerIt's a Brigade of the 101st, not a Battalion.
But you knew that because you served there too, right?
You certainly don't post like it.

When Crean couldn't solve a 2-3 zone. Showed he couldn't make in game adjustments. And lost recruiting in Indiana I was done..It was obvious he would never get us far in the NCAA..You probably said the same about Crean. Because everyone did. If you can’t see the red flags please sit this one out and let the rational people decide.
My apologies VB about my earlier comment. I thought it was something with Airborne but didnt know details. It’s a Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division based out of Ft Campbell, which is located in Clarksville TN and just south of Hop town KY, how do I know this I served there too.

While the rational people are deciding, you can keep a lookout for Billy Donovan's horse trailer since you'll be excluded from the discussion. You probably said the same about Crean. Because everyone did. If you can’t see the red flags please sit this one out and let the rational people decide.
Every coach in any sport unless scandal appears should get most of his contract if not all to prove what he can do. Sometimes the writing is on the wall before that time comes. AM is on the cusp of that right now. One more poor season of high talent and low performance will mean there will not be a fifth season for him, maybe not even a 4th...right or wrong...thats modern college sports.
I'm still of the opinion that there is very little benefit in one-and-done's unless you have enough around them to get you deep in the tourney the year they are there. That means you had better be able to recruit several of them (like Duke and Ky) or already have a bunch of pieces in place (which we do not and won't have next year). Brooks is not as good as Langford, and if RL is done this year all we did was waste a scholarship that could have been used on long-term help.Losing Brooks was huge. Fans can say he “is just one and done” and we “don’t need a guy who won’t be here for long” but.....the damage was done by the message it sends and the image it creates. It says: “IU isn’t that important in the home state.”
“IU’s future doesn’t look promising.” “Recruit doesn’t believe in Archie.”
That may be a nail in Archie’s career coffin.

Looking back, Noah Vonleigh, Thomas Bryant, and even Cody Zeller left the program in worse shape by leaving after one or even two years. I would much rather have guys that are going to be here three or four years. At this point we need to build a program far more than we need a great talent who isn't committed to that same goal.
If Brooks sees himself as an oad - which he has publicly stated - he is better off at Kentucky and IU is better off with a scholarship for someone who wants to help us get back to being an elite program.
Pinstriped pants oh goodie! They can match our feather boas. Time to Party, girls!Miller got the most out of last years team. They were a man short before Deron went down, not to mention Hartman was a shell of his former self. This year I am extremely disappointed with CAM coaching job. E en with the injuries this team is a 4 or 5 seed in the tournament that matters. He showed RL favoritism and failed the locker room. He was horrible at making adjustments, both in game and in season. The weave and heave was not working and everyone seemed to know this but him. No plays or sets to put Romeo in a position to succeed. What RL got he got on his own. No two man game with RL and JM. This shouldn't have been this hard to figure out. The biggest thing was not getting a handle on the team split at Xmas. I liked the hire initially but I have to see something spectacular next year to erase this year dumpster fire from memory.

I call bullshit on this as you are too stupid to have served. I think that you owe a huge apology to all of the men and women who have served because including yourself among them, even on an IU message board, is a disgrace to the hero's who are the armed forces. You freaking suck buddy. It’s a Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division based out of Ft Campbell, which is located in Clarksville TN and just south of Hop town KY, how do I know this I served there too.
Salary matters because with it come certain expectations. True throughout the economy, and why calipari, saban etc command large salaries. And we find no joy in “tearing” down the program. We just have expectations. And that’s where the rub lies - how hard is it to assemble a decent team. Some of us believe a competitive team that fights like hell can be assembled in a single season. Others believe we are in a “rebuild.” I’m with the former as I think this notion of rebuild is greatly exaggerated. What does his salary have to do with it? Do you think a salary makes a coach work harder? Do you think the SFU coach works hard to build up his program and compete with teams like us? We pay Archie a competitive salary based on what the the market is for a coach of his experience and potential.
I think you underestimate the task of recruiting and turning 8 guys from Indiana into an elite team. Archie coached a very poor roster with a bad senior class to a record that exceeded my expectations. He recruited a top 10 class in his first attempt. He landed his primary recruit and isn't done for 2019. We lost 4 games we should have won in a year of unprecedented injuries, And yes, the injuries did matter when our bench for one game was Anderson, Forrester, Moore, and Fitzner. I don't blame Archie for his effort in coaching a young roster in the rebuilding stage with injuries.
I don't understand why people seem to get so much joy in tearing down a team they are supposed to support using bad information and logic. Enough people outside of our fanbase want to see us fail. Why are people helping the assholes from UK and PU?
I’m with the former as I think this notion of rebuild is greatly exaggerated.
if you are such a big fan of coach knight why do you keep spelling his name wrong?I've never heard that particular phrase and I played basketball...well, up until my freshman year of junior high and then the competition picked up a notch or two above my god (of many colors)-given talent and motivation. I like that, "....and then beat you with your team". I had to think on it a moment...that's what Bobbie used to do because it was more often than not, one big ass-kicking...a dismantling of the scheme that any opposing coach had planned to do. The thing of it is, opposing coaches always knew what Bob was going to do because he diagrammed all his offensive and defensive schemes of his own a board during his TV show with Chuck Marlowe. I had always heard coaches around the state loved to watch his show, like everyone else. Think about it a bit deeper....You're a coach trying to be successful. You prepare your team for what his team is going to do. However well you've drilled your players on what to expect, it won't be good enough playing against a coach so good he beats you with your own players. Bob was the man. Archie can, but fans, including myself, don't make it any easier for him to achieve what it is he wants to do. We've become an impatient lot. We put pressure on him and it puts pressure on recruiting. It's got to stop or we're going to be in an endless cycle like you would not like to even believe there is no end in sight. No one said it would be easy, said over and over. As much as I hate our record this year and as much as I dislike that he's not more like Bob, there's just something I like about the man so I am okay with putting my faith in him and give Archie some more time with less complaint. Bob may be gone, but his shadow...his army, marches on and that's always going to be a tough act for any IU coach to follow.
One final thought that pretty much sums it up. My wife and I had lunch in Nick's while the kids were on Spring Break. I gave her a tour upstairs, including the Hump Room. A lot of famous people have signed the walls adjacent to the long, narrow passageway leading to the oft-forgotten room of such overflow. One handwritten script in particular caught my eye so I photographed it - it read: " General Jack Bradshaw
(Bobbie's Army friend)!!
Be Tough!
West Pointe Academy
US Army, Ret."
It made me think about how tough Bobbie was. It made his players tough who made it tough for other teams to have to plan against because there is no special scheme to out-wit toughness. You can only combat toughness with more toughness. Most coaches have a hard time instilling that quality in their players when they, themselves, do not possess that trait of toughness, a trait of bullying that creates a fine line with social acceptance in today's twisted society.
what is it then? i'm dying to know. i thought maybe donnie darko. You're obviously a complete idiot. That symbol and what it represents has more value than anything you will accomplish in your sorry ass lifetime.
this is a joke, right?WhT is the literacy leVel on this bored? I suspect not to high
Coaching Indiana Basketball creates the level of expectation, not what we pay them. We would not expect less performance if Archie took a pay cut.Salary matters because with it come certain expectations. True throughout the economy, and why calipari, saban etc command large salaries. And we find no joy in “tearing” down the program. We just have expectations.
