President Trump's Executive Actions (orders, proclamations, etc.)

Not a pardon, but President Trump helps out his corrupt Democrat buddy, Mayor Eric Adams, by ordering the DoJ to drop the bribery case against him:

Wonder if they'll be changing parties now that Trump has given them an assist.

Drain the swamp!!!
Led to six resignations in the Southern District of New York, including the acting US Attorney. None of the prosecutors in the case would sign the sign the dismissal court filing:

Excerpt:

In her resignation letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, Sassoon wrote that she was “baffled” by the decision to drop the charges against Adams.

“I remain baffled by the rushed and superficial process by which this decision was reached, in seeming collaboration with Adams’s counsel and without my direct input on the ultimate stated rationales for dismissal,” Sassoon wrote. “Mr. Bove admonished me to be mindful of my obligation to zealously defend the interests of the United States and to advance good-faith arguments on behalf of the Administration.”

The US attorney wrote that dismissing the Adams case “will amplify, rather than abate, concerns about weaponization of the Department,” and that Adams is already using the memo to publicly assert his innocence. Sassoon said that her office is prepared to seek a superseding indictment from a new grand jury.

Sassoon, who was chief of appeals before she was put in place by Trump in January, has strong conservative credentials. She is a member of the Federalist Society and clerked for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. She penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal soon after taking over the top job that was critical of President Joe Biden’s pardons.

In her resignation letter, Sassoon also nodded to the meeting between herself, Bove and Adams’ team in late January, saying that Adams’ attorneys “repeatedly urged what amounted to a quid pro quo, indicating that Adams would be in a position to assist with the Department’s enforcement priorities only if the indictment were dismissed.”

What baffles me about this whole thing is why Trump didn't just issue a preemptive pardon. Somebody was trying to make this dismissal look and sound principled, reasoned. Well, there's nothing principled or reasoned about it at all.

Maybe Trump felt like he would expend less political capital by having the DOJ dismiss the charges rather than issuing a pardon. But this is why POTUS virtually always stays out of DOJ's charging business.

Trump's so oafish that it's going to actually cost him *more* political capital to get Adams off the hook than it would have had he just done what Joe Biden did for his son and brother.

I just got the answer to my question.

The dismissal is being done in such a way that it can be brought back up if he doesn't dance to the Trump Administration's tune. You can't do that with clemency. If he had pardoned Adams, Adams would have no incentive to assist Trump with his immigration policies.

It's almost as clever as it is corrupt. I can see why the prosecutors are resigning.

Now we have another resignation. They got the goods on the corrupt Mayor and think it’s wrong not to prosecute.

Bingo.

Edit to add:

Normally, Trump would be expected to love to prosecute a Democrat mayor from a northern "woke" city (specifically a city that irritated Trump and which Trump abandoned when he changed his residence to Mar-a-Lago). But now Trump doesn't want to prosecute him. Makes us wonder. Hmmmmmm.

If Trump was smart more than arrogant, he'd realize that he screwed up royally here and reverse course on this.

Trump actually is a pretty smart guy. But his arrogance almost always gets the better of him. So he won't do it....and will be oblivious to how much this sort of thing will derail his presidency.

He says he had nothing to do with ordering the case dismissed.

He is what he believes his opponents are. I and many other conservatives complained about how some things were handled the past four years and they turn around and (waves hands around) do all this.

There will be a reckoning eventually. Some of the other GOP members better wise the **** up, this dude is a lame duck and they are going to be tied to all of this.

Lame duck?? WTF?? No way.

Trump is going to pronounce himself as the interim President until all the controversy over the future 2028 election is resolved. The controversy, of course, will be all generated by Trump and Trumpers.

There isn’t any reckoning coming . You just joined the list of old white college educated dudes who don’t like conservatives. There aren’t enough women and old whites dudes to carry anything.

Dude, I am a conservative. Defend that shit on its merits. The woman prosecuting this served with one of the most conservative jurists in our lifetime. At a certain point you guys are going to come around to the reality that the way this administration is acting on some things isn't right

Dumb as stuffshot
You're the one that posted the "healing" has begun.

At the same time you posted that you think Trump won't do much because he'll entrust the policy matters to his new group of minions.

Here's the difference.

When you and you guys predict the future of what will happen under Trump, you act like it is so accurate that it may as well have already happened.

When anyone else offers a prediction of the future under Trump that you disagree with, you go stupidly intolerant.

You claim you are never stupid. Yeah right.

I don’t take any issues with that point of view. It’s reasonable. It’s the reckoning talk and etc. We’re literally 3 weeks into his Presidency and you’ve done a complete 180. I know liberals are going to lose their shit right away, but you would hope conservatives would give them a year or two before they turn on them.

Oh, so it's your opinion of my "worth" instead of what I posted.

Here. Bow down, genuflect and wipe off your tongue:

Having them insult you and threaten how you feed your family while laughing about it on a daily basis will tend to do that....

Jesus Christ, these people are going to find a way to kill us all.

These super smart dudes are way smarter than a bunch of dumb GS employees......

Whoever thought putting 19 year old hackers like "Big Balls" in charge of accessing government data could be problematic? Who could have foreseen things like this as "careful" and "thoughtful" as all this was approached?
