Pray they call Fred ...

In what way?

What did you want/expect him to say that would have been inspiring?

He just came across as not as excited as the news he was sharing...when they played (and this could be a bad memory...I may have watched the clip to which I am referring online) a clip of CTA...he was jacked for the infrastructure and the new locker room.

Glass just sounded boring...

1. I still don't think you understand what an AD actually does.
2. Why would an IU alum leading the IU athletics dept be interested in USC?
3. You really haven't been paying attention to the job he has done if you really want him to leave....maybe see #1, again?
I agree with this take. An AD is not supposed to hire a basketball coach or football coach that is assured of winning a national championship. I have been a fan since RMK came to IU. Yes, it would be nice to get back to that place again and I believe Coach Miller is going in the right direction player personnel wise and IU fans will be happy with the product on the court. This will in turn lead IU to be a contender in the B10 each year. But, there is more to the job than that. The improvement in facilities is amazing this last decade. The basketball program is still very lucrative and the football program is getting better. But it is also about the other sports and this AD gets that.

I didn't get that feeling at all.
First he was commenting as the game played which made for a somewhat disjointed interaction.
Second, I have never met the guy, maybe that is just his demeanor. He wasn't doing a Rah, Rah act but I didn't think he was boring.

It’s a mixed record. Facilities and non rev sports have been very good. Men’s basketball and football have been poor. I know the USC plea was a joke, but there probably wouldn’t be another major conference school that would hire him. I did hear the interview. He’s just not a good public speaker, not like he’s alone there.

The dude gets skewered on here for being a cheerleader, and now he's too boring? GTFOH

Fair enough...for the record...not an anti-Glass guy...he was more subdued than I remember him being (and I haven't seen him for some time)...that's all...probably would've been a better way to relate my reaction to his time during the game...there are some reasonably sensitive folks on the site (see more of them on the bball side) and I appreciate your take on it Al.

Football hasn’t been poor in relationship to our overall history. It is actually better than average.

How do you come up with that statement?

Isn't IU one of the worst D1 football programs historically in the nation?

Please clarify.

He's obviously saying that IU is historically bad in football. Under Glass as AD, the football team is actually better than IU's average football team. Which is true. It's still bad but not typical IU bad.

If Tom Allen manages to win just three more games this season, he will have the most wins in his first three seasons of ANY IU head football coach. That's how historically bad they've been.

I wasn't aware of that but it doesn't surprise me at all. Yet some on here blame Glass for the football team not making bowl games on a regular basis.

And STILL not make a bowl game, potentially

I thought his spot on BTN was a good one. He clearly is proud of all the facilities upgrade and the BTN did a great job showcasing them. Being a cheerleader is not part of the job description. If the trolls on the board wanted that, he would be lambasted as he would sound like Orange Tommy. Some people will never be happy, and to be honest I dont think they want to. They are the loser at lunch so desperately seeking validation by people that want nothing to do with him.

He’s been AD since the beginning of 2009. How long should it take to build a football program that has a single winning season?

are you the least bit familiar with our history and our schedule?
Expecting a winning program or even a winning season doesn’t seem realistic. I think the effort is super and Coach Allen is a great guy but may just be too high of a mountain to climb. Hope not but I can see why Glass shouldn’t be judged negatively because every year of his AD job hasn’t produced a winning record. It’s really unfair to expect that I think.

Uh...what?

If Allen fails to get Indiana Football turned around going forward then it should absolutely fall upon Fred Glass. It was his decision after all, to forego a coaching search and give the ball to CTA.

In what fantasy world should he not be held responsible for that decision? That's complete nonsense.

I'd like to point out that IUGradman has no clue when it come to IU football no matter who the AD is. Glass is the best AD we have had this century and winning RIGHT NOW at IU is a pipe dream that will never happen. Glass has built the facilities, got a coach who is as passionate about IU since Hoeppner, and the recruits are paying dividends with last year's class being the best in IU's history. IUGradman is looking for the glory days when we finished seasons like so:

In other words, you are delusional

Trolls on this board are freaking hilarious.

No IUFB coach has ever taken over a better program. And the standards have changed with the Big Ten Network money that’s leveled the playing field.
