Ditto.Ok. Now I’m excited and glad they’re in the play in game. But I reserve the right to piss and moan about it, if it doesn’t go well tomorrow night.
Davison disagrees.there is no bigger douche in the NCAA than Francis.
This place will be dumpster fire when IU is down 16-12 tonight. I think IU wins and covers, but you know it won't be easy.Ok. Now I’m excited and glad they’re in the play in game. But I reserve the right to piss and moan about it, if it doesn’t go well tomorrow night.
That last pass from the kid was sweet, right in the pocket!X being an ambassador is cool.
If the NCAA tournament has taught me anything...its that it rarely ever goes the way it "should", or would seem it should. This place will be dumpster fire when IU is down 16-12 tonight. I think IU wins and covers, but you know it won't be easy.

No way of knowing this, but...will the IU team from late in the Michigan game through late in the Iowa game show up tonight?...or will it be the February Hoosiers? And conversely, will the Wyoming team that was something like 20-3 or whatever it was show up?...or will it be the team that lost 4-5 games late in the season?
One thing that worries me...we haven't done very well all year against taller or longer play makers...Champagne lit us up, Boeheim lit us up, Johnny Davis killed us, The Murray twins, Michigans bigs in Bloomington, etc... Wyoming seems pretty easy to peg, stop or slow Maldonado, and you probably beat them easily. IU has known that same challenge against a bunch of teams this year, and has failed a bunch of times. Sometimes its just because those players are that good. But also, we just don't have a lock down wing defender.
I look for Maldonado to have a good game tonight. And the game will be close because of it.
Lots of film how to stop him. You don’t let him back you down. Make him shoot it. He’s not good at that.Although, I would say that taller playmakers is only part of the equation, its taller playmakers that can beat you off the dribble/finish around the rim, and with the exception of Davis, also hit the 3. Maldonado really isn't that - offensively is effectively a post player. Also, besides Davis/Wisconsin, it usually took multiple guys with that ability to really give IU problems.
Only major issue with Maldonado is that IU really hasn't seen someone like him this year, but IU also has the flexibility to throw a couple different players on him defensively if the initial matchup doesn't work,
Agree with that, the only unknown will be the player best suited to do that.Lots of film how to stop him. You don’t let him back you down. Make him shoot it. He’s not good at that.
Ike looks like a hand full, but that 19/9 in MWC is more like 13/6.5 in B1G. Still a troublesome issue! If the NCAA tournament has taught me anything...its that it rarely ever goes the way it "should", or would seem it should.

Race or Kopp. Probably both. You take him away and they become a different team. We won’t have to double or dig either. I put our guys straight up all day.Agree with that, the only unknown will be the player best suited to do that.
His team next year.X being an ambassador is cool.

Not sure how you don't play Gerinomo AND limit Trey's minutes. That means Kopp plays a ton and everyone complains. Who knows, maybe they get away with that tonight.don't play JG if we don't have to.
and keep mins to a min for Tre, as he didn't look totally healed vs Iowa.
coaches say they are cautious with players coming off injuries, but they never are.
and could we please have more twitter spamming.
Kopp gets a bad rep. He’s actually a very underrated defender. He moves guys where they don’t want to be. Rarely out of position offensively or defensivelyNot sure how you don't play Gerinomo AND limit Trey's minutes. That means Kopp plays a ton and everyone complains. I agree. His size makes him an important piece.Kopp gets a bad rep. He’s actually a very underrated defender. He moves guys where they don’t want to be. Rarely out of position offensively or defensively
I heard woody say he’s a 3 spot guy. I believe him.I agree. His size makes him an important piece.

I’d like to see Stewart start on him. Strong as a bull and 6’5”. Refs like to call an early banging foul or two to get control of the game. Better that Stew get those if that’s the case.Agree with that, the only unknown will be the player best suited to do that.
I’m talking defense. That’s rep I’m talking about. Not once have we talked about his offense other than he’s where he’s supposed to be.He gets a bad rap because his 3 point shooting hasn't been up to expectations, but the rest of his game has been solid. But weirdly, something about Assembly Hall must have him spooked, because elsewhere his shooting has been fine.
Against major conference teams his 3 shooting stats are
-neutral court: 35% on 4.3 attempts per game
-away games: 42% on 4.4 attempts per game (40% combined away/neutral)
-home games: 22% on 1.8 attempts per game
And for neutral/away games, he's made at least 1 3-pointer in every game
In home games, he's had 6 games without a 3-pointer, and never had more than 1 against a major conference opponent.
Thankfully, IU won't be playing at home again this season

He's got good feet on D. Agree with you and good post.My point was the people have discounted or ignored his defense because they have been disappointed with his shooting
