"We're down to two branches of government."

How much longer 'til Trump starts blatantly defying court orders? Then what?

In the immediate aftermath I can guarantee that there will be a fair number of people who regularly post here who will accuse anyone who points that out of panicking or overreacting.

I’m convinced there are a fair number of posters here that would defend Trump and his proxies no matter what they did.

That’s on a micro level. On a larger macro/societial level I’d like to think there will be safeguards and patriotic judges who would stand in his way, but I’d guess that’ll hold so long.

allowing businesses to bribe government is unlikely to be put back in the bag. Who is going to vote to close that door now that it is open?

Corruption is just ramping up. Wonder how many people will go to Clarence to get pointers on how best to take bribes and live the life of luxury.

I'd be really interested in knowing where the billions that went into Trump's meme coin came from. I doubt we ever will...or that elected officials starting their own will ever been banned/illegal.

Wouldn't be shocked if it was the same place that funded Kushner.

Yes, yes and yes.

The judiciary is the only remaining check. But, as I suggested in the first post, it's just a matter of time until he starts regularly slamming judges and rulings, and refusing to abide by them. Then we're in a full-blown constitutional crisis, and I have no idea what happens next but it won't be good.

We've never before had a presidency (except Nixon, perhaps, but he was ultimately forced to resign) where high-ranking members of the administration were openly questioning the general authority of the judiciary vis-a-vis presidential power.

Yes, let's bribe our way to American exceptionalism.

Speaking of Kushner, his dad (Charles), who is a uniquely awful and disgusting human being, is now the Ambassador to France.

"Kushner further admitted at his plea hearing that he devised a scheme to retaliate against a cooperating witness - his sister - and her husband by having a prostitute seduce the husband and covertly filming them having sex. Kushner admitted that he paid a private investigator $25,000 to arrange for the seduction and videotaping of the cooperating witness' husband. Kushner admitted to personally recruiting the prostitute and instructing that the videotape be mailed to the cooperating witness [his sister]."

Un morceau de merde.

I do think we’re definitely on that collision course. And people will blindly support it. I mean, they’re blatantly supporting a full on racist member of the DOGE team being rehired after he resigned when racist texts from last fall were exposed.

And just thing we are only three weeks in. Well hopefully he took a lesson from biden on how to ignore the courts and simply press forward.

Biden simply ignored the judiciary with student loans. Trump should do the same.

Sure, that's precisely the same as what Trump, Musk and Vance are saying/doing now. Lol.

The SAVE plan, while shitty and ultimately paused by injunction, was not in contravention of Biden v. Nebraska.

Go back to sleep, bailey.

And don't forget "Big Balls," the 19 year-old DOGE team member who is now a "Senior Adviser" in the State Department. He was shitcanned from a previous gig for leaking sensitive data to a competitor.

You can't make this shit up.

"Musk's clown car of DOGE boys," indeed.

That’s just crazy.

Everyone should be against at least some of these people gaining access to US citizens’ personal data, but people are cheering on ‘Big Balls’ and a self-admitted racist being able to sift through their personal data.

I’m not saying anything has been leaked or improperly accessed, but only a moron would be surprised if any of that happened.

Agreed.

All of this might be pretty funny if it were happening somewhere other than our country.
