KR shoots Rosenbaum, and while people are administering first aid to Rosenbaum right behind him a clearly out of his element KR calls someone.
It's at this point where KR could have walked to the cops and surrendered- no one was even paying attention to him. But eventually people take note of the fact that he has a gun and is standing by a wounded victim, and people start yelling that he shot that guy and start to chase him. The girl (Anthony Huber's girlfriend) says how he joined in the chase, although she tried to stop him.
My opinion is that after he killed Rosenbaum, KR's actions cease to be "self defense". The people chasing him see him as a criminal who just shot someone- THAT is the reason they chase him. The self defense aspect of the first shooting can be fleshed out in court, but running (and shooting at) people who are chasing you because they believe you shot someone (when that's exactly what happened) should not be grounds for self defense.
In that case anybody could shoot anyone, and then if he kills someone trying to apprehend him for killing that person, he can just claim self defense. This is where I believe the jury got it all wrong, because there was ample opportunity for KR to walk to cops and surrender and no one else had to die. Even the militia guy seems to agree with me.
It's true that KR is not mature enough to be able to think this coherently and act accordingly. But that further points up the fact that he purposely interjected himself into a volatile situation that he was far too immature to be able to handle... That's why I think there should have been some element of accountability for his recklessness.
