Noticed that Purdue sneaks by Maryland in Mackey 58-55.

Another Purdue poster on an IU board during their nationally televised game.

The Boiler Alliance is giving each scholarship player $50k. That’s chump change.
No, it is actually brilliant. It’s a team game and Purdue starts with a minimum of $50K for each scholarship player as a minimum. There is no limit on what players who are highly marketable can get. I would rather see everybody getting $50K than see one or two guys getting $500K and the rest nothing.
Lol Berg? You can’t be serious. Kaufman has been awful this year.

You have no 2023 high school centers looking at Purdue.
You said the same thing about Edey three years ago!

He talks about ROI, yet refuses to recognize that compared to Purdue's paltry NIL dollars (according to him) vs. IU's grand NIL dollars the on-court performance is negatively correlated. That makes his ROI emphasis ridiculous. Failure to recognize that the Kentucky model of buying the one-and-dones is failing is a key error. Kansas won last year with no very highly-rated players coming out of HS. Purdue is #1 this year, and last year as well, with a similar group. That is not an accident; rather it is a change in the nature of the game.

Knowing a good bit of French when having car trouble in very rural Quebec proved very useful for us. The locals were not very English-speaking. Also, the language that we are learning is spoken in the place to which we plan on traveling so I expect familiarity with it might be somewhat useful, But perhaps that's just me.

To each his own, if people choose to spend time in a casino gambling against a house with odds favoring that side of the table, so be it. I prefer doing things much more of personal interest and learning/seeing something new. Of course, the difference between us is vast in terms of respective interests and outlook upon knowledge.
We can definitely agree on the vast differences in our interests.

Our lowest guy is making significantly more than $50k. Our highest guy is making significantly more than a Purdue player could ever hope of making. It’s already been proven that NIL revenue outside the Boiler Alliance is minimal given your $170k NIL received in the 1st year. Adding $50k to whatever players received last year still pales in comparison to what teams who have competitive NIL programs are making. You saw last spring in the transfer portal the lack of NIL Purdue has. Miss after miss in the PG transfer portal.

I was not saying the same thing about Edey at the same point Berg is in his Purdue career.

Kansas had 2 top 50 players and host of other 4 star players along with one of the top transfer portal players.

Last year is not a valid example as rosters were set prior to NIL becoming allowed.

We will see how NIL impacts the game going forward. My guess is that the programs with historical success will continue to be at the top of college basketball.

You are still freaking here?

You couldn't find Quebec on a map, STFU

Don't forget those $20 gift certificates to the finest dining in WL...the shriveldogger at Speedway.

Oh, and I hope for your sake it isn't Purdue starting with that $50K as you stated.

According to Matt Nordlander at CBSSPorts.com, last year's Kansas team started players ranked 36th, 53rd, 94th, 130th and 132nd in their respective recruiting classes. That makes none of them 5-stars. Hence the phrase "...very highy ranked..."
lol

Go to Tadoussac, Quebec. it's at the confluence of the St. Lawrence and the Saguenay Rivers. You can go there and take a trip in small boats and go whale watching in the summer there for beluga and minke whales. I've done it and gotten some good pictures of whales. The Saguenay is also the only place in eastern North America that has fjords. I'm very sure that I've been there so I think that I could find it.

You struck out again writing about what you do not know. Quebec is about 300 miles north of where I live. It's not that hard to get there; I-87 all the way for about 5 hours.

Lots of good food there as well. Try Aux Anciens Canadiens in Quebec City, it's a very nice restaurant.

How’s the ROI going down in Bloomington in regards to NIL? This thread title is classic btw.

It’s going great! Purdue fans are lucky to not have experienced injuries yet this year (or in recent years). Even with your recent success, you still can’t land big time recruits.

Yeah…seems like we land plenty of good college players. Is there a banner for paying (landing) highly ranked recruits? I’ll take the Painter model any day.

The same model his predecessor used that leads you to zero final 4s in 43 years? Bold strategy. It is a great model for getting upset by double digit seeds though.

Congrats, Porky!

Lottery pick JHS 1-14. Not a typo. Damn I wish we could trade Braden Smith for him. Kopp was a steal as well - no way I’d not take him over Loyer. TJD v #493 rated Edey…cmon! I’d go on and on but it’s embarrassing as a PU fan to see the unbelievable talent IU brings in. No chance we win the Big against that juggernaut.

Aww is little porky drinking tonight? Congrats on your big victory!!

Get a ****ing life. ****ing douche. You live here rent free. You literally follow IU more closely than I do: WTF.

It’s a different model and has changed over the years. I think he’s hitting a sweet spot and NIL era may actually benefit Purdue. IU had an incredible run of success under Knight no doubt. If Knight was not enfeebled he would be praising Painter. Not as confident he’d think much of IU the past 20 some years. Down deep IU fans who actually like and understand basketball know they prefer what Painter is doing up in Lafayette. Fan boys like you just enjoy the recruiting wins and off-season championships.

Then why did IU fire Tom Crean? You would think Keady or Painter would luck into a FF at some point. 1980 was a long, long time ago. Painter can't beat mid-majors when it matters.

Painter in no way, shape, or form belongs in the same sentence as Bob Knight. I repeat, in no way, shape, or form.

Painter is doing everything he can with the limited resources that come with coaching at Purdue. If he were coaching at IU, he’d be a great coach and able to land elite talent which would make them constant Final 4 contenders. Obviously at Purdue he’s limited on who he can land which is why they’ve struggled to get passed the Sweet 16.

Tom Crean was ranked #1 and recruited better than Painter: who gives a shit? It has been 18-19 years: do you really think Painter crapping the bed against mid-majors would fly anywhere else? He will crap the bed again this year: it is what he does.

PU fans putting Painter in the same sentence as Bob Knight: I've seen it all, lol

Bob Knight, who I detest as a person, was a great basketball coach. He would appreciate what Painter does, would appreciate the kids he recruits. I’m not guessing on either of those statements. You’re just a fan boy who has no real understanding of the game or how to win. The fact you wear candy stripes doesn’t make you special. You have zero to do with any of the championships won by Knight. If I was an IU fan you types would embarrass me. I’m pretty sure you do embarrass a lot of real fans here. Last post - I’ve worn out the fun of being here.

What do you have to do with Painter’s many Sweet 16s? If I was a Purdue fan, fans like you would embarrass me too.

I'm sure Bob Knight thought Keady was a good coach: that doesn't mean Gene ever won shit. I'm sure Bob Knight thought a lot of coaches were good coaches. The fact is that Painter is no Matta, Ryan, Beilein, or Izzo, and he is certainly no Knight.

IU fans got sick of Crean never doing anything in March: the same thing doesn't happen in WL. They keep you around forever and name the floor after you. At least IU has some standards.

Go find the PU board and stop living here rent free as a troll: that is the true embarrassment. Say what you will about me, but I'm no troll living on the PU site.
