I thought Zac was a decent guy but the F-bomb on national tv was just low class, even for a PU guy. I considered rooting for them but I've since changed my mind. I hope NC St. snakes them. It might just save an embarrassing showing against UCONN.
What's embarrassing is our athletic department for decades has put virtually all it's resources into men's basketball and it's currently the 100th best team in the country.
We didn't begin to invest in football until Hoeppner and Greenspan started the process 20 years ago. Sembower field was a decent high school stadium and yet we attempted to field a Big Ten baseball team.
Despite all that, our mismanaged athletic department has still produced a superior product than our rivals in West Lafayette.
What makes you believe we put all our resources in basketball? We hired Crean and Miller, and we didn’t pay players.

Knight wasn't the best role model with his language..but obviously neither is edey.
I am just talking about facilities and coaching salaries. Pre BTN money the football stadium was awful, softball, baseball, volleyball facilities were all HS level.
The focus of the athletic department was entirely on men's basketball.

I don’t care that he used foul language. I’m more amused by what motivated him to say what he said in the first place. It reeks of bitterness and insecurity. I was watching WXIN News this morning, and they did a story from a retirement village, insinuating that this was the kind of place you had to go to find PU fans who remember the last time they went to the FF.

Edey feels disrespected, and perhaps rightfully so, but the reason it took so long for him to get respect is because he came out of nowhere. He wasn’t on anyone’s radar out of high school and was extremely raw and not that talented. Also, Purdue’s recent NCAA appearances were less than stellar with several upsets by double digit seeds. Edey and Purdue would get more respect by being more self deprecating, rather than coming off as defensive and bitter, which comes off as placing blame on the media and fans.
Edey is a saint compared to what Knight used to say. If you think otherwise then maybe you need to do a little audio and video research. LOL

Did Knight ever use the F word on live TV? I honestly don’t know, but I can’t think of a time, off hand. And yes, Edey is a saint compared to Knight, but is it a fair comparison to compare a player to a coach?
Not really... the Coach should be more composed I would think! And, I am a BK fan.

Z_One trying to defend someone with a yabbut to someone else is just claiming that it is acceptable as long as more than 1 person is that way. And I don't recall Knight dropping the f bomb on tv.
It would be a better argument to say athletes and coaches shouldn't be seen as role models in the first place but obviously that isn't the case.
Dropping f bombs in public or on tv is either ok or its not. Yabbutting other people doing it doesn't really change anything.

Knight never said it live like that during a national, regional or local broadcast. Yes, to F-bombs to local reporters asking stupid questions, knowing it would be edited out before actual broadcast. Yes, during a Q and A tournament post game press conference but again, these aren’t live feeds unedited. What we heard and/or saw later were snippets with cuss words bleeped and used to paint Knight/IU in a bad light for the sake of increasing viewership. Everyone likes to see the giants fall and Knight made himself an easy target for the slanted media.
Knight’s infamous clandestine practice tape rant is no different than the video of Edey’s “I’ve got a boner!” comment and the video showing a female sneaking into his hotel room. Those don’t compare to Edey’s unprovoked F-bomb live nationally before he even left the floor. I think he lost a lot of non-PU grad fans around the country after that personal tirade. Maybe the national spotlight’s pressure is getting to him. Hoosier Nation certainly hopes so.

No, because Knight only head butted Sheron because he stumbled into him. Knight didn’t choke Neil Reed like you think and IU players on the court all said it was no big deal. Reed only complained months later after being shown a tape Felling received and coercing him to speak up. The tape was grainy, leaving room for doubt about an actual choke so-you-can’t-breath type hold. You probably think Knight assaulted deSilva, too, and stuffed an LSU fan into a Bourbon St trash can.
