last night was brutal to watch. I am still going to try to back Crean and keep my half glass full outlook but after last night performance it will be hard. With all the turnovers and the total lack of defense it is getting harder and harder to watch Crean coach. Last night when we were down two with a couple of minutes left he was trying to get the crowd into it instead of trying to coach the team.

I am hoping for a turn around next game and have a successful season but if not maybe people will get their wish and Glass will end this for you.

Nine years watching this crap and it is just now "getting harder and harder to watch Crean coach"???!!! REALLY!!! What more evidence did you need after watching years 1-8?

I was at the game and it was VERY evident from the beginning that this could be another IPFW game. No intensity, no urgency, no one getting their butts chewed for terrible decisions, same old, same old. Just for the players information, if you only see two opposing players in front of you, there are three behind you.

I do have another question for anyone, what the hell is on CTC's piece of paper that he puts on the scorer's table? He looks at it FREQUENTLY.

Tough loss for sure. Long season. Losing Yogi appears to be a bigger issue than we thought. Wins vs Carolina and Kansas maybe covered up some of the mistakes we saw.

Coaching is one thing. I get that people will want to pile on the staff. But as a player I didn't see one frickin guy man up and say I'm going to get this stop. Or I'm not letting my guy score again. Just like the Butler game...our defense was just god awful.

Frustrating. Short memory is needed. 48 hours to Louisville...and Wisconsin on Tuesday.

I think the only thing that will lead to a change is to stop going to games and donating money. As long as IU is making money and not getting hit financially I don't think there will be a change unless he totally tanks this year.

Certainly no lack of talent.
It is as painful to watch as it's ever been under CTC.

People always seem to blame the players. Who recruited these guys? Who develops them? Who disciplines them? Your team is always a reflection of the coach.
Who allows their big men to make a steal on the other side of the 10 second line and than try to dribble the length of the court see OG and TB. TC teams have played careless and out of control for 9 years why expect anything different

Why do you think we can't get in-state recruits? Because he can't freaking coach!

To much past history of seeing this from Crean's teams for me to see this team doing anything in the post season. He can absolutely lose to anyone on any night. It is mind boggling..

I agree with this but it's a long season. I will say this, he is not building himself a solid support structure as he goes into post season play. He was able to hang his hat on consistency last season when other teams didn't have it. Which is why IU won the B1G. If he doesn't have a B1G title and still falls short in the tournament, I think everyone would agree that it's time to move on. BUT....that has to happen first. It's the putting the cart before the horse that undermines the teams efforts. Everyone is Nostradamus after a loss and proclaim a big loss before we go on to beat a top 3 team. Let's let this season continue to ride out and then decide.

I dont buy it. By saturday you will be 100% behind crean again. At you know as well as I do glass will not fire crean period.

Bingo. Thats all the admins care about. Winning the big ten last year bought crean at least 3 more seasons. We are stuck with him folks.

Hence the reason people just need to relax and ride the season out. If they flop everywhere, then I think the fan base will be loud about their disapproval. Flying off the handle from game to game won't solve anything.

Agree but two bad losses and one to an average Butler squad.

LOL. Don't you like seeing OG and Bryant lack up 30 footers 5 seconds into the shot clock or driving the length of the court in traffic to promote position less basketball.

I wouldn't call Butler average unless all average teams are ranked around 15th in the country.
All the fans will be happy if they manage to beat Louisville.
Crean is not going anywhere. Again he just won the BIG and beat Kansas and UNC. He does enough to stay.

When it happens with player after player, many of whom (YF, TB, OA, TW) are well equipped to be bad ass defenders, year after year, you eventually have to surmise that it's not emphasized at IU like it is at good defensive minded schools. It's so obvious, it is the coach and what he emphasizes.

If you mean will I still watch and root for IU to win then you are correct

If IU beats Louisville and Wisconsin you will be 110% back on the Crean train. Even if they beat one of the two I expect you will be back supporting Crean. I originally thought this team could go 15-3 especially given the easy first half of the schedule and a weak big ten again. I guess I forgot to factor in coaching so now I think 11-7 is more likely but that is more than good enough for Glass.

Yep he is not going anywhere that is why the new coach thread is pointless and a waste of time. We will be having these same frustrating conversations about crean three years from now. He is kind of like a government employee in a union doing who is doing a terrible job. Since they are in a union they are impossible to get rid of. Glass is the union boss and crean is the union member who is tenured.

Again I don't support the coach but I support the program no matter who the coach is.

See this is where some differ from you because he has not done a terrible job but it has been a little above average.

I wouldn't want to play for a clown either.....

....all the top high school coaches think he is a joke.

Freddy needs to take a hard look at the future......tell this traveling circus show to leave town.

As does many of the AAU coaches and players families.

I heard the mother of a Mr BB tell Tim Buckley not to bother recruiting her son because "Crean is a flake." True story.

When you are one of the top paid coaches in all of nation you need to be much better then a little above average . You don't agree with that?

So much for locking down the state as crean promised. Then again used car salemen always promise the world.

Come on, Scott, jump off the ship. It's sinking.
I will probably be on the last lifeboat, but I fully understand that IU winning a title under Crean would be a major fluke, not a matter of destiny and time, like it is in Lexington and Louisville and Chapel Hill and Lawrence.

There are things I like about Tom Cream. I think he is a positive influence on the kids he coaches. I like his energy and dedication. There is, however, a missing variable between how true elite coaches teach the game and the philosophy that CTC teaches. I have hoped he could muster a team with enough offense to carry an IU team to overcome the philosophy, but I realized that if last year's juggernaut couldn't do it, it was unlikely any team would.

Indiana with an elite coach and a few of Indiana's homegrown stars could restore IU on a path where a title is again a matter of destiny and time.

Though I will remain among the last to abandon ship, don't be surprised if when next you see me, I'm wearing a life preserver.

I am in this category. Support Crean and think the team will improve and has not come close to their potential.

The thing I did not like is the look on his face at a critical moment in the game. He was trying to decide what to do but it seemed more like he didn't know what to do as he consulted his notes instead of yelling instructions to his pg or leader.

Homegrown stars? Several posters said we dont need any Indiana kids on the team even though to me they seem to have pretty high basketball iq for the most part. We are the east coast hoosiers.

Yeah, very high bball IQ....Ron Patterson....Devin Davis....Jeremy Hollowell......Hanner Perea......this list could go on forever.

Major problem..

(Yet once again)

Knight on sidelines- any game you thought you stood a chance.

Crean on sidelines- you have a sense he can lose any ball game.

Not really a knock on Crean. Just facts turn overs, defense etc etc..Im not a fan of Crean, I am of IU. An always hope for a win. No matter who is at the helm. Pray for a change rather it be Crean or a new.
