Professional admiration?
i was in tears laughing today. a couple of my buddies, very successful careers in finance and tech, had midlife crises and started manufacturing infused pot shit. so we went and visited a couple of dispensaries carrying our products. as we were driving i said damn life is unpredictable. when we were 20 not in a million years would i have predicted that we'd be in our 50s visiting pot dispensaries checking on products. no one said anything in reply for like a full minute. then my buddy in the backseat mumbled under his breath: "we'd have shot each other right then and there." the entire suv bust out laughing 🤣🤣

That's funny. My friends would have laughed back then as well. However, their response would be along the lines of: "do you really think we'll make a living selling pot?"

I'm trying to identify a series of short movies I used to love watching as a kid. They seemed to always show them at the YMCA on movie nights, kids' camps, etc. I believe they were largely silent movies, apart from the main character speaking a line or two at the very end. They were also comedic westerns, I think in black and white, but they were likely made in the 50s or 60s. Most importantly, the main character/hero wore a giant (extremely tall) hat. At the end when he took of his hat his head was the same shape - absurdly tall, mostly forehead (somewhat similar to the Coneheads). I've looked off and on for a while now, and have yet to be able to find anything about the movies. I think they were less than 20 minutes each - perhaps as short as 10 minutes.

Ring a bell for anyone?

Peyton Manning was never a cowboy.

So what’s everybody reading or watching? My new favorite tv show is Killing Eve. It’s about a female assassin, on BBC , starring Sandra Oh as the detective trying to catch her. Creepy good. I’m reading Killers of the Flower Moon, about the murders of Native Americans in Oseage County and the beginnings of the FBI. Just saw RBG, and was surprised at how gorgeous she was. Also had no idea she was involved in women’s issues since college and tried 6 cases at Supreme Court, winning 5 of them. What’s everyone else enjoying?
Here's another cop show that's pretty good: Bloodlands.

Takes place in Northern and Regular Ireland, involving murder, the IRA and corrupt cops.

Thanks! Unfortunately I could not find it at any of those links. I think the main problem is that these were very short movies (15-20 minutes). I'm not even sure if they would have ever been shown in a movie theater.

FWIW, I also forgot to mention they included stop action scenes of the main character riding an invisible horse he sort of hopped/skidded around on his boots, as if he were riding a tiny invisible horse

Blaze Glory?

YES!!!! That's it!!! I could have sworn it was black and white. As for it being a series, it looks like the same guy, Chuck Menville, did similar films and I likely recalled seeing those as well. His film Sergeant Swell of the Mounties appears to basically be the same character but as a Canadian Mountie.

It's a neo-western series with Ozark vibes which gets darker with each episode, highly recommend it. Only looked into it because of Michael Dorman (from Patriot.)

Didn't think I would like it when I read the synopsis. But it sucked me in, very watchable.

Updated Lynch-type series -- idyllic surroundings but a rotting core.

I was looking for a movie to see last night in the theater and settled on Theater Camp. I’ve already seen Oppenheimer and I promised I’d let my teenage girls take me to see Barbie with them for their second time. I’m not big on the other summer Blockbuster movies so this was it. It was decent but not great. It was a mockumentary which I generally like. Think Waiting for Guffman or Best In Show. As a genre I’d much rather see this than many of the other movies. I’ll give the movie a solid B.

The previews looked pretty good. It will probably be my next one.

Zeke to battle inflation Taylor had to add more shows. My little girly pop texted me from her vacation and I got registered. Find out Tuesday if I’m selected. Like Willy wonka and chocolate bars

F*ck Taylor Swift. Peeped prices for next year. $1000 and up for a two hour pop extravaganza? GFY you capitalist glory hole sucking monster. People made fun of the Eagles for having $250 tickets. Why tf does she get no backlash on this? The only f*cking people there will be rich.

Artist? No f*cking way. She’s a goddamn disgrace to any “art” community. She’s a pox on anything approaching art. She’s a capitalist pig.

Rant over.

I know. What can she do to control prices? You know on a smaller scale Stl City sc did the same. Season tix sold out so they partnered with seat geek. Single tickets in the $100 - $300 range. $40 parking. $10 beer. $6 water. It’s a thousand dollar night for a family of four

She’s got enough clout to do it. She doesn’t. End of story.

And she bitches about her old work manipulated against her will. F*ck her. Seriously, she’s everything wrong with the music industry but she says all the “right” things.

Okay. Okay. I can’t argue with that. So Taylor swift is everything that’s wrong with music. That’s your position. Can we agree then that Jake Paul is everything that’s right with boxing?

I write this so I can show my Swiftie daughter later:

If people will pay that much, and she lowers the ticket price, ticket buyers will just come in, buy them up, and resell them for the same price. Why should they profit off her?

As for her artistry, do I need to start posting TSwift videos again?
