Movies, books, tv

You'll love the last episode (like Noodle already mentioned). It's a very heartwarming way to end the series.

Be like Ronald.
Seriously what an unbelievable dude. The other day it was like 97 degrees and there was a target worker in the parking lot in jeans skipping to get a cart. It was unreal. I told my daughter if I saw that guy I wouldn’t even ask for his resume. Just hire him on the spot.
As for jury duty the $10 per day in pay here sours the pool and they never seem to recover

Wow, $10. Do they at least get free parking, otherwise one loses money.
I know it should be everyone's duty to serve, and I gladly would. But I get paid time off. Someone who doesn't and gives paycheck to paycheck, jury duty could be a disaster.

for sure. trials can last a month or more. ten bucks a day and if you get selected $18 a day. in some counties it is as low as $6. $6 a day and free parking

If I were a clever defense attorney I might claim that causes bias, jurors thinking, "I am stuck doing this for no pay and someone is to blame and it is that person right there."

Or maybe that's been tried.

Ha! If you are unemployed and not getting paid leave it is definitely a burden.

My daughter loved it. Said it's one of her top 3 favorite movies of all-time and is at the theater right now watching it again.
Loved, loved, loved!! Just got home. Lots of really funny parts and a really empowering message! Did she have a cute pink outfit to wear? My favorite group today was a group of 10 with matching tshirts and bows of 3 generations! So fun. 2 weeks ago I had zero interest in this movie, but it’s really witty and clever.

I liked how the trailer said 'if you grew up loving Barbie' and then later said 'if you grew up hating Barbie' implying that it's for both.

My daughter’s friend was at Barbie and texted her a pic of their teacher at the theatre dressed up like Barbie holding a barbie doll. That pic is now spreading like wildfire amongst the kids

A comparison of Barbie's map and the so-called 9-dash line from China (the green dashes). Of course other dashes on Barbie's map in addition to the 8 dashes connected to "Asia." See full Barbie map below.

Interesting how now that I’ve found a medication that seems to be working better i all of a sudden have an interest in watching some tv shows. I had lost interest in so many things. Before watching season 1 of Ted Lasso the last season of anything I had watched final season of GOT. Outside of the occasional IU game I was done. Last night I started watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. It’s scary as a grown man to watch a show I know both my Jewish mom and Aunt would approve of watching. I have to live with this for the rest of my life but I really enjoyed the first two episodes. I think I’m hooked and the lead actress is hot.

I love all of the parents on that show and the ex hubby. Loved the first season. By the second both the lead actress and her agent started to annoy me. Not sure why

I'm starting season 2 of Succession. Such a guilty pleasure.

AGain, I would love to party wtih Roman. One night only.
My two favorite lines. One Roman was waiting for Kendall’s helicopter to land and he goes: here comes Kendall. Spiraling down. And the old man was told someone he knew died and he directed that they said his regards to the cancer

Opposite for us. We got tired of the over the top drama with the parents.

The Bear season 2 has been fantastic. The Marcus episode in Copenhagen was incredible and the Christmas episode was off the charts. But….Forks was one of the best TV episodes I have ever watched. Richie was simply amazing in that one. I’ve been thinking about it for a week since I watched it.

I completed Barbenheimer today. If you saw the Barbie thread, you know I loved Barbie. While there is talk of the patriarchy and poking some fun of men, the overarching message is it’s ok to be yourself, you are enough. For both Ken and Barbies. It melted my heart seeing moms and daughters and dads and daughters. Just got back from Oppenheimer and liked it a lot also. Great acting, especially Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. It’s 3 hours long and probably could have used a little editing, but kept my attention. Now it makes me want to read more about him. Special effects in this are very cool. When they talk about scientific things happening, they cut away and show giant images of atoms splitting, for example. I noticed the score for this was excellent also. Generally don’t even notice the score in a film. So two solid thumbs up and I’m so happy theaters are busy again. Hope they get the strike settled soon. ( Tried to see it at state museum but they are so,d out for next two weeks, so saw on regular IMAX).

Point of order - is it really a Barbenheimer if you don't complete the task on the same day? Isn't that like claiming you ran a marathon when in reality you ran 4 miles 7 days in a row? ;)

I absolutely love Cillian Murphy. My dream team for an epic film is him paired with Christoph Waltz. Maybe throw in Tilda Swinton for good measure.

Nah, not really. I just liked the name. We had planned on doing both in the same day, but decided to go eat and drink after Barbie instead of seeing another movie, which we knew was serious and depressing. Should have done Oppenbie?

I'm with you. I cannot imagine watching Barbie and then watching Oppenheimer the very same day.

This Fing heat. Played maybe 15 minutes and we had to cancel our outdoor game today. Too hot to do anything. And btw shark week has jumped the shark. It’s boring. And I love the oceans and sharks
