Movies, books, tv

That’s fair, but I’d add that that first episode of the second half was a solid 10.
Has to be super difficult to wrap up a show with a good ending. Apparently peaking blinders is the opposite. Not a great final season but an outstanding finale

No! I'll have to check it out
Cool little bit with Ruth, who explained the difficulty she had with a line when she called one of her uncles a “fvck nugget.” Just hard for her to say with getting tongue tied in knots.

Finished Ozark last night. Any thoughts on the finale? I didn't think the ending was great. That said was a super fun, original show.
I’ve read some people thought the ending left things up in the air. I though it was pretty clear what happened. I knew someone would die. Had to . Not happy with who it was.

Just good writing. There’s the obvious conclusion, which is the safe conclusion. Then, there’s the possibility it was a warning - “Hey, we’re not fvckin’ around here; we’re serious” - shot into the air before a real negotiation. That could be resolved with a future sequel.

mentioned it in another thread, but will do so here as well.

Ok, would like to take the family to see a movie in the “theater” today but honestly there just isn’t much IMO that I would like to see. My girls are 11, 15, 16. The one I’m afraid everyone would like is Fantasic Beasts. Everyone besides me that is…so there’s two movies I’ve identified I’m considering taking the family to, unfortunately both are rated R. I will let them see R movies with me but I’m usually somewhat selective. The two in the theatres I’m interested is is the Outfit and Everything Everywhere All At Once. My dad saw the Outfit and said it’s really good and reminds him of the Usual Suspects. The other movie has gotten very good reviews and sounds like a twisted comedy I would probably like. Apparently there’s butt plugs inside a character to redeem her special powers. Stupid shit like that. Some reviewers claim this movie has comedic genius. Perhaps questionable for the kids but I prefer this over showing them violence. Anyone seen this second movie?

Okay, I'm sorry that I'm late to the conversation but definitely watch Everything Everywhere All At Once if you get the opportunity. Really awesome. May be one of the best and funniest movies of the last 5 years.

Finished the last two episodes Thursday night. Don’t want to destroy the ending for anyone, but I was disappointed with one of the decisions made by the show runners. That said, it also had a little bit of a The Sopranos type of ending, with a lot of ambiguity. Maybe that’s an opening for a sequel.

Overall, though, I enjoyed it and I’ll miss it. It’s in the top five with The Sopranos, GOT, Breaking Bad and Lonesome Dove.
I think I have three episodes left. This last season started a bit slow, but from about episode three onward it’s been great.

Can’t wait for Peaky Blinders to return. Friends in the UK say the last season is the best of all of them.

June 10 I think. Super excited

I give the show a 9 and the finale a 6.5
Agreed here.

Worst families in TV history has a new leader, the Byrdes.

Christ even the Sopranos and Walter White had some kind of code or moral center. The Byrdes, however, are the dirtiest, most reprehensible "family" ever.

PS. As happens way too often, a series finale is trying to do too many things. That finale should have been another 2-3 episodes to really wrap things up.

Agreed. The metamorphosis of the family, particularly Wendy, was obviously one of the overriding themes of the series. Loved the final season, but the ending was a bit disappointing.

And the cut to black was way too similar to the Sopranos ending. Surprised they didn't play a Journey song over the credits. Wheel in the Sky or, better yet, When You Love a Woman would have been appropriate.

Watched the Netflix documentary, "Our Father" about Indy fertility doctor Donald Cline, who fathered almost 100 children with his own sperm.
