I thought it was Brad Pitt. Til Angelina Jolie got her hooks in him
The recent Rewatchables podcast about Color of Money discussed this. The consensus was that Leo is the new Paul. Both A+ movie stars and both choosing movies very carefully. Neither chased the blockbuster paydays like a Cruise. I thought it was an interesting comparison. However, Newman will always be my favorite actor.

I imagine McM in court as very similar to Cruise in this scene:

Would that make COH as Newman?

That’s the 2nd time I’ve read about the Rewatchables pod (might have been you both times). Gonna check it out. Thanks.

Anyone see new Curb? Goes along with the thread asking if Airplane could get made today. This show gets away with so much without being called offensive. Tonight’s show dealt with Klansmen and rallies, Leon not eating watermelon because hes embarrassed to do it in front of white people, and a shofar. I’ve thought this season was pretty tame so far, but tonight was hilarious.
Also, just watching Dopesick on Hulu about Purdue Pharmacy and opioid crisis starring Michael Keaton. It’s very good and informative.

A political blog I read asked everyone to submit their 10 favorite movies and then they composed a list of the favorites. Today is A-M of the honorable mentions and some pretty good movies on it. I am shocked and amazed that Breaker Morant is on the list, I remember seeing it 35 years ago and thought it was amazing.

I am going to have to watch Let There by Light, a 1946 John Huston documentary on WWII soldiers with what we now call PTSD. The article says it is now on YouTube.

Anyone else watching Midnight Mass on Netflix? The actor who plays the priest is outstanding. I knew him previously as Christine’s brother on New Adventures of Old Christine.
Kind of a change of pace, to say the least.

I am on my third attempt with Game of thrones. I have now gone farther than I ever previously did. Season 6 episode 7. Only like 16 more to go. I think I'll actually make it this time.

Cortez88, wanted to thank you again for the Daniel Woodrell recommendation. I'm about halfway through Winter's Bone and it is really good.

It looks like you are a fan, so what do you think are the next couple of books I should read by him?

GoT was great and epic and all that, but at times it was a slog as far as I was concerned; wife was totally enthralled throughout. For me it was like chocolate fudge -- great stuff, but you can only handle so much.

Glad you enjoyed. I’d go with Death of Sweet Mister next. I’ve read all his books and really liked them all. The Bayou Trilogy is a detective series. Woe to Live On is about the Kansas/Missouri border during the Civil War.

Fantastic. Can't wait to read those.

Anyone watch the mini series The Good Lord Bird about John Brown? Ethan Hawke is really excellent in it.

It’s been really good through the first 6 seasons. But you can feel the story falling off. I’ve never read the books but, as I understand it, they ran out of true source material after the fifth season and ventured into more of an “approved by GRRM” storyline. What I’ve heard anyways.

still great television.

The last 2 seasons blew. Great before that though.

Great episode, though the watermelon bit seemed a bit strained. I did not get why Mary Ferguson III bolted when she saw them eating watermelon.

I had not watched the show in years before this season. I was watching something on HBO recently and Curb happened to come on right afterwards. Forgot how good it was, and ended up setting the series to record.

Finally finished watching season 2 of For All Mankind (Apple+). Great show, and I cannot wait for season 3.

For anyone unfamiliar, the series is a semi-alternative history of the U.S. and Russian space programs. Not to give too much away, but the basic premise is that the space race continues in earnest well beyond the first moon landing. As a result, U.S. and Russia space activities progress significantly further than in real life; so much so that season 3 appears to have a man on Mars in 1995. There are some really great characters in the show, with some portraying actual people (e.g., Deke Slayton) and others loosely based on actual people (e.g., Gordo Stevens, based on Gordon Cooper).

Apple+ is really producing solid shows. Their goal is clearly quality over quantity, similar to HBO I suppose. Dickinson is pretty good, and obviously Ted Lasso is as good as it gets.

Now I'm gonna have yet another streaming service. I hate you all.

I need to remember to cancel my BTN+ service. Got it to watch a couple early bball games not on regular BTN and the end of season volleyball and soccer games. Pretty sure that the rest of PU's bball games are all on BTN or network. As some have said, BTN+ is really BTN-. It pretty much sucks unless you really want to see certain games.
