Council member Elliott Payne wants to create a new department of public safety. But this time, he wants to keep MPD in place and not put the measure to a public vote.

Councilmember Robin Wonsley-Worlobah, Ward 2, said if a new public safety department is put in place, it needs to be under different leadership. She’s calling for the mayor to resign.

“MPD has proven that they will not voluntary change. The mayor has proven incapable of ineffective oversight,” Wonsley-Worlobah said.

The reason the people pissed currently is because there was another no knock warrant death in Minneapolis a couple weeks ago. I believe I read it was not even the guy they are looking for.

That video was quite disturbing. Just terrible policing. Not sure why the guy was sleeping with a gun, but either way, he didn't deserve what happened.

That being said, the city has gone to complete shit under the loser mayor and pathetic city council. They deserve the crime ridden shithole that the city has become. Downtown is a ghost town, restaurants are shuddered everywhere and Uptown, a previously active area, has become quite risky at night.

The only place that's thriving is North Loop, which is separated a bit by highways, train tracks and the river.
