Michigan State apologizes for Hitler image on videoboard

From a recent Common Core" survey/study: • Nearly a quarter of those surveyed could not identify Adolf Hitler; 10 percent think he was a munitions manufacturer

I vaguely remember a "Man in the street" question from a few years ago asking who who more evil, Darth Vader or Hitler. Darth Vader won going away. And that speaks to the point that a lot a people recognize the name, but he's been slotted into the "Bogeyman" status, a really bad guy that did some bad things a long time ago. Good that your son would know. I'd hope that he wasn't in the minority, but if he isn't, he probably will be in a few years.

How is showing evil man, when evil man's birthdate was part of the quiz, so bad?

There are some in the audience probably thinking, "OHhhhhh, THAT guy!"

Evil monster of a person. But it is history.

But, Iol wouldn't use him in the quiz! That was kinda dumb... Seems dumber to be offended though. Unless the quiz was framed as 'influential people we should read and listen to', than yeah that would be offensive.
