Thinking final vote will come this afternoon with four of the seven voting against McCarthy changing to give him a majority of 217 of those voting.
More than four might switch when they see the writing on the wall.

She's pretty tame, bland, Carmelite, professional. That alone gets you 30%. Ukrainian. Lotta transplants around Hamilton County these days. She won a district where Biden did pretty well considering.
Spartz seems idealistic to me. I like that. She's not devious enough for Congress, which is also why I like her.

As I had to explain - something I thought was obvious - was I was talking about the federal government. I have no issue with states establishing academic standards.

My guess is there must be a set of rules established to guide elections.

I believe it’s done by vote of the committee of the whole (whole house). Presided over by the clerk of the House until a Speaker is selected.
There should be a House Rules of Parliamentary Procedure online I’d imagine.
IIUC, the only things that can be done are vote to convene, adjourn, and elect a Speaker.
