I do wonder why they have to do a roll call vote for the speaker election, but are allowed to vote electronically to adjourn. Strange. I mean, I'm glad they can speed this up, but they could also speed up the actual election, too.
It’s a shame whoever was trying to punch Gaetz didn’t get to him. Very punchable face. Even though I don’t normally advocate violence.

Speaker vote is on the record that way. Adjournment vote may not be. Or at least not so public.
CNN reports Gaetz is the one who wants to adjourn, and that's why he did what he did, probably to try to squeeze more out of McCarthy over the weekend. If I were McC, I'd tell my supporters not to support this motion, and make everyone do it all over again. Put Gaetz on an island.
It will still be public record, as I understand it. They do most votes this way, I think.
It’s obvious Gaetz and Boebert just like the attention. Supposedly they got everything they wanted and said so on Fox. The only positive is that they aren’t going to get a damn thing accomplished.
I really hope that was a sly ploy by McCarthy to change their votes right at the end as a big FU to Gaetz.
Had enough of the clown show for tonight. Hard to deny that the clowns are running the show on the right now.
The last vote was gaveled, so they'll have to vote again if the adjournment fails, right?
Boebert would lose if she voted for McCarthy. Gaetz is just an idiot. I support what they held out for but now it’s just personal. McCarthy shouldn’t have played in those primaries.
CNN reports it was Rosendale who f*cked it up. He was supposed to vote present, letting McCarthy win 216-215, but he changed his vote to Biggs or Jordan or whatever at the last minute. Per sources in GOP leadership.
I wonder if McCarthy will make these final holdouts pay. You know Nancy would have gotten her pound of flesh.
CNN now reporting Gaetz expected to change his vote to McCarthy. Five bucks says he leaves the chamber when his name is coming up again, and then votes last.
I wonder if he’s going to come through on everything he promised them.
Oh definitely . And obviously he wasn’t offered anything new in the last hour. He just wanted to be a drama Queen.

Biggs just changed to "present." If all votes stay the same, that will be enough to win it for McCarthy.

Gaetz didn't change his vote after all. But he stayed with "present" so McCarthy is still on track to win.

The terms freedom, liberty, the American people and democracy are the most overused, abused/misused and meaningless words in the American political arena/vernacular.

Gotta hand it to the Big Orange. End of the night, he's the big winner. McCarthy is one of the weakest Speakers in history, and Trump ended up being the one to make it happen.
He probably didn't care. End of the day, he's the one that solved the Republican Civil War. He called Gaetz and Biggs on the floor, and flipped every vote, so McCarthy won. Trump's the hero. Who cares who has the gavel? Trump got what he wanted. Might have been the plan all along.

They ended up with an agreement. They got at least 2 of the things they were requesting. It was a win.
I am hoping they got more capitulation on procedure than they did on committees.
I haven’t seen anything about committee assignments but without rule changes McCarthy was not getting elected Speaker.
