I'm all for that, too. Who can be elected as Speaker who can get it done? And don't say Trump - that's just not going to happen.
Truth is if he had just released the Jan 6 tapes like he promised he'd probably still be Speaker. That was 100% in his control.
Dan, I may disagree with you everything this side of Ukraine, but you are arguing for effective government (just effective in a way I may not want). Some people, and some progressives are this way too, would rather throw a temper tantrum and demand everything and a unicorn. If they can't get the unicorn, they don't want everything as then they wouldn't have the reason to have the temper tantrum.

Ultimately, it's up to the voters. If they want people like the Squad or Gaetz, or others, that's on the voters. We get the government we deserve.
I don't know how we keep the crazies under control, but it takes strong leadership that everyone respects. McCarthy, personally, doesn't come off as being strong on one side or the other. But a Steve Scalise? Yeah, he'd do. He's got the conservative bona fides and he seems like a man of action.
I hate Nancy Pelosi and everything she stands for. I think she has done more to damage America and the sense of fair play in government more than any other person i know. But Democrats love her because she's a strong leader and not afraid to use her power to get what she wants. As I said, I think she's destructive, but she gets people to follow her.
I saw enough to know that the Jan 6 trial was a sham and didn't show the whole story.
That's all I needed to see.
Do you really think any Republican Speaker is going to reign in the FBI? Good luck getting a budget through that takes money away from the DoJ.

He’s probably just going to talk non-stop about how unfairly he’s treated and how the election was stolen. It’ll just be his same boring speech he always gives, just in a different setting.
Looks like Gaetz shifted his position to justify getting rid of McCarthy. A smokescreen to try to hide his personal vendetta.
Why did he vote against an 8% budget cut, along with the Democrats?
