McCarthy Round 2

It's not just McCarthy. Boehner and Ryan were both run out leadership by the same small minority of the conference. The GOP has proven for over a decade now that it cannot govern the House of Reps.
You have a point about the obstructions of some GOP whackos, but I don’t think Pelosi-style iron fist rule and big spending and legislation crammed down without transparency or debate is the answer.

I've telling you for years...Dems do exactly what their voters want. Republicans do just the opposite. This was bound to happen eventually. We're past the boiling point. It's exactly how you got Trump too.

Gaetz argued for single appropriations bills and regular order on the House floor. He and a few others stopped that process from moving forward.

If you’ve followed the votes….they have been doing that.

This x's a million. Dems get everything they want...Russian collision hoax in 2016 that almost changed the election, multiple sham impeachments into Trump, harassment and prosecution of Trump supporters including Jan 6, rigged 2020 election with illegal election law changes many agreed to by "Republican" governors, weaponization of the DOJ and FBI against Republicans, wide open border, Obamacare, 87k IRS agents to harass Trump supporters, suppression of Hunter's laptop and Joe's illegal business dealings, Jack Smith and the sham indictments etc. We could go on forever. Dems get whatever they want and Republican voters get shit. We're done with RINOs forever.

It’s going to be someone who voted for McCarthy and can get the vote of those that voted against. Other than maybe Mace could get both to support her.

Scalise seems the most obvious choice. Gaetz even came out with that name and said he'd be great.

Mace apparently was upset that McCarthy wouldn't bring votes up on women issues like contraception.

Didn't Will Rogers say only billionaires and fools vote Republican?

Dems will take the House back next year. With a looming government shutdown, and a speaker that can be voted out on a whim, Americans will want more stability.
Some of the GOP extremists are from safe districts and some aren't. Bobo, for example, was elected by about 500 votes over a Democrat.

It would be interesting if someone like would McCarthy primary some of them. He is an amazing fundraiser, nationally known and can actually be well-liked on those days he puts his mind to it.

Don't Trump supporters think anything through before posting?

Actually, I might support Trump for speaker -- he cannot hold two offices at the same time, and I don't think an ineligible candidate for President gets the benefit of the same fundraising rules.
That's what you think-we'll see.

I always figured that the reason Trump was hesitant to disclose his personal financial info was simply because it would show he's not a "billionaire". Maybe I'm wrong, Forbes still has him $2B+, but office holdings are a bit sketchy these days. The fact that he was (reportedly) inflating stated valuations to keep on the Forbes list cracks me up. :D

He will end the war in Ukraine.
Congrats, Russia!

He will secure the border.
Just like 2016-2020. Oh wait...

He will end the politically weaponized government.
That's RICH. He wants to wage a political revenge tour.

He will make America energy independent again.
Yes, let's hitch our wagon to coal and let all the rest of the world invent and own the future technologies. Let's bring back the horse and buggy, too!

He will pass my bill to stop transgender surgeries on kids and keep men out of women’s sports.
Look over there! Something unimportant to 99.9% of us!

He will support our military and police.
He calls them suckers and fools.

And so much more!
RIIIIIIGHT...

He has a proven 4 year record as President of the United States of America.
A 4 year record of rampant corruption and an undisputed bottom 3 President of all time.

He received a record number of Republican votes of any Republican Presidential candidate!
And lost. And whined. And still whines. Not only does nobody want to see him run and win, running and losing again may be worse, since he will claim victimhood and his snowflake cultists will be ready.

We can make him Speaker and then elect him President!
Haven't you already spread enough GOP / neo-Nazi shit on the Capitol walls on Jan 6th?

Hate to ruin your wet dream, but Trump is not eligible under current House GOP Conference Rules.

Anyone under felony indictment facing more than 2 years in prison is not eligible for any leadership position

And if I understand it correctly, a change to House Rules takes a privileged resolution from House Rules leadership. Seeing that Tom Cole chairs this committee, hard to see how it would even make it past him for a vote.

Interesting. I thought general consensus was Scalise didn’t want it.

I’m fine with him or Jordan, but for the love of god, let’s get this through on one vote.

Changing House Rules mid- Congress also requires a 2/3rds vote.

So yeah, not happening.

Don't laugh. This is absolutely going to happen.

I mean I'm pretty sure it already happened in January. I think Gaetz voted for Trump during one of the many roll call votes. Anyone can stand up and nominate anyone they want.

Doesn't mean shit. The conference will vote privately on who they will back and then all but the 10 or so whackos will vote for that person every round. January Part 2

Republicans...follow Trump or get destroyed. MAGA is the only way.

Without the MAGAbots Republicans would have won the house by 20+ seats and McCarthy wouldn’t have to worry about Gaetz’s temper tantrums. We’d also probably have a Republican Senate through which we could pass actual conservative legislation and put on Biden’s desk instead of just grandstanding.

The irony of course being that now the MAGA bots have gotten rid of McCarthy making the GOP continue to look dysfunctional to the voters.

Meanwhile you come on this board every day and bleat about the electoral strength of President who has presided over Republicans getting crushed in every election since 2018.

Does it count as a win when he beats fellow dreamer dbm?
God, I'm going to hate myself for the following sentence.

Sounds like an own goal.
I'll take the fine.
Republicans on this board are independent thinkers. If I dsagree with any of them, I'll say so.

I can't say the same for your side, although there are a few of you that actually post intelligently and I can share a few laughs with.

I'm saying Trump will absolutely be elected Speaker. Just feels like that's where we're at right now. America's gone on a few seasons too long and so the writers are going to start rehashing old bits.

Who that could be elected House Speaker would achieve any of those things?

You know the same as I do - no one.

McCarthy got the hearings going on the Bidens and those committees are exposing corruption every day.

You're right that Dems get away with all that, but what Republican Speaker is going to stop it as soon as everyone wants? You can't impeach someone without the votes, which was what McCarthy was working on.

You're following Gaetz, who has a personal vendetta against McCarthy and the 8 have rendered the rest of the Party impotent - at least for now.

Sure can. Defund the FBI until they release the list. If the Dems want to die on the hill of defending child rapists let them. Defund Jack Smith in until he drops the bogus charges. Pelosi impeached Trump twice over nothing. Launched the sham Jan 6 committee, etc etc
