Lincoln’s Birthplace Finally a GOP State

Yeah, well, his army still ran their secesh asses out of the Cumberland Gap, down through Chickamauga, and all the way to the sea.
Probably why it took so long for a majority GOP populace in what is through-and-through a conservative state. Interesting to me how multi-generational political alliances can be.

Lincoln’s family was embittered against Kentucky. They lost members to Indian raids, and his father lost his property to crappy title practices and laws. They were also anti-slavery. They got fed up and moved to Indiana because Indiana was better at surveying and documenting land ownership.

Kentucky’s legislators who wanted to secede had to run off to Russellville to form a government, and the Secesh tried to March on Frankfort to get them in power. The Union put an end to that shit, with my family helping, at the Battle of Perryville and it’s related skirmishes, then again at Murfreesboro, Tennessee/Stones River. Grant took care of the west side of Kentucky and Tennessee - without my family.

But yes, the Secesh held sway in Kentucky long after the war, and Yankee carpetbaggers plundered the coal lands, so FDR and Alben Barkley and Wendell Ford kept them until Reagan started to crack the hold.

They are socially conservative, doesn't mean they were completely economically conservative. It just took that long for the Democrats to completely alienate the poor white voters who used to be the backbone of the party.

What is the GOP offering economically to poor white voters? My guess is they're more aligned with Bernie than with Trump.

They are whining loudly, offering no solutions at all, but Kentuckians say "damn yeah, I'll whine along with you!"

Close the borders!

to Kentucky.
The mayor of DC is sad about her shelters getting filled up with immigrants sent to her city by Texas. She didn't mention “oh, now I get it, i see why Texas doesn't like getting overwhelmed either, and maybe we should slow our roll until folks can immigrate to jobs instead of crime centers.”

Border lessons are lost on her … and you.

Stay outta the Bluegrass.
