Kanon Catchings

Again, you are making things up. FDU earned their way into the tournament according to the rules established at the beginning of the season. Merrimack was always ineligible according to their conference rules. Once it was established what the Northeast Conference Finals were, FDU was in. Why would you not think at that point that FDU's play in the Final was affected by that knowledge? If you are already in, I would seek to minimize chance of injury, etc.

As for those 19 teams, how do you know what they were rated and what their SOS was? You are just throwing out a comment with no backup.

While Purdue lost by 5, VA lost by 20. Again, math to me suggests 20 is worse than 5. But don't let facts get in the way of a nonsensical opinion.
No post has more perfectly exemplified PU fan mentality than this one. Thank you.

Whats the story on catching . Size , position , and where is he from . I had heard he had committed to PU , but that was all I knew about him .
I watched 12-15 Brownsburg games this season. Catchings has decent handles for a 6'-7" kid. He can bring the ball up court if needed in a pinch. He's a bit of a shot hunter and spends more time on the perimeter than in the paint. That may be due to offensive scheme from coaches. Good rebounder against typically shorter high school competition, and not afraid to scrum for the ball. Rail thin and needs to bulk up a bit.

He struggles to get shots against good defenders, especially when he's rhythm dribbling or brushing off screens trying get a shot. He doesn't strike me as especially quick. Definitely has leaping ability and threw down some transition dunks this season, including an impressive, above the rim, one-hand alley oop catch and jam in regional against Plainfield. Got T'd up in late 3rd or early 4th qtr of the semi-state final against BD for taunting and Coach Lynch took him out of the remainder of the game. I wasn't sure what to make of that...he seems passive in most games, but he was jawing in the BD game.

Again, not true. I am not sure about their confidences but I do know that the teams mentioned only got in by winning their conference tournaments.

FDU was 2nd in their conference to ineligible Merrimack. That made them the highest-rated eligible team in their conference prior to the conference tournament. Again, far from good but far from the worst, which was the claim.

Holy shit you are incredibly ****ing stupid LOLOL

"an inferior team..."? Admittedly, 3 games out of first place in the conference this past season, so that part is true. However, wasn't IU the preseason conference favorite according to the media? I seem to recall reading that both here and elsewhere.
...now come on...you girls know how important GOOD guard play is...our PG was out with a broken foot for most of the year...what caused your guards to play piss poor...UFD owned your boys...the whole damn game...17>1

Up to the tournament, Purdue was undefeated vs non conference teams. Purdues style of play just wom the NCAA tourney. Purdue just doesn't have the athletes to do what UCONN (whose coach studied Painter and his offense while developing his style) did. Style is fine, athleticism is not.
Bully ball is outdated
Athleticism is not Ok
Losing to a double digit seed again
Another Painter team that peaked in November & December
Same story
Different year

I can't believe there are still PU fans on the Painter train: unbelievable. PU has been doing the same damn thing for almost 50 years now.

Edey is more than just tall. He's skilled. Otherwise every dude over 7'2 would put up massive numbers. But I'm sure you considered that.
SWEEEEEEEP!

Purdue played through the post out of necessity. They highlighted their best player, something Painter has always done.

but 10 of 13 against you with a couple of Big 10 championships. TJD won 1 NCAA game and no titles in his career.
He won two. First Four is part of the tournament and IU beat Wyoming in the First Four last year.

Yes, but arguably IU had its worst coach ever and some of their worst teams throughout most of that stretch. Purdue has had two years of their best teams ever and are 1-3 vs IU.
JHS was a stud! Knew going in he'd be the catalyst to beating Purdue. He did it twice. Wasn't sad to see him go pro. Haha

Injuries to three starters is tough to overcome.

If Smith was gone for the year, Edey hampered with back problems for 12 games and Loyer missed games and played hurt in others...how would you BT title hopes look?

You lost to the worst 16 seed in tournament history. Go home and chant “IU sucks” some more. IU has actual NC banners. Let me know when Purdue can reach a FF or NC game, much less win that game. They can’t even beat a 16 seed.
Dusty > Never.
Every. Damn. Time.
Ok cool. I don't chant iu sucks, because I don't really care tbh. Glad they did away with the organized chants. Glad you were able to witness them win a banner. I think it would be neat to see someone in the state of Indiana win the tourney. Unfortunately, no one under the age of 36 has seen it. Pretty pathetic basketball all around. Tbh, it's pathetic that 3/4 the major teams have struggled to stay relevant.

I’m almost 65 and have witnessed 3. Damn right I’m proud of those 3 banners. With a few less injuries, they could’ve won 2 or 3 more.

The banner that best matches the Purdue Mentality and is more likely to be seen is:

"Finished ahead of IU in the BT"
This is the entire point. Some PU fans, not all, continue to give Painter a total free pass on a terrible NCAAT resume. PU has tried the same plan and style since Keady, and it flat out doesn't work in March. PU literally just suffered the worst loss in NCAAT history and possibly sporting history, and some PU fans are still like "Well, he does well in the Big Ten sometimes and beat Archie Miller." After 18 years of Painter and 44 years total, who gives a shit?

Painter has acknowledged his issues, be curious to see how he addresses that. His style to play through his best player is a pretty solid style though. I think it's a personnel issue more than a style issue. Needs more athleticism. He's sacrificed that imo.

Even IU needed more athleticism this past season, hence, one of the main reasons why they struggled at times was losing X. His quickness and defense was sorely missed. Imagine if IU had him at PG and allowed JHS to develop as our 2-guard. Great back court along with an AA big man. Probably still wouldn’t have been enough to make a long run in the tournament, but I bet they would’ve made it difficult for Purdue to win the B10,
