Surprised to see him leave a head job to be a DC but if he does well he will get bigger opportunities.

I knew someone here said it. Thought it was seriously crazy talk. Well, I’ll be damned! Great call!I mentioned that potential move a couple of days ago. It made too much sense that I figured Deboer would throw everything at him….. the wouldas, couldas, and shouldas will be abundant if they do well
… Alabama DCs and OCs get hired at good P5 HC billets all the time … good career move … for Kane.

Makes you realize why their coordinators are so good. Georgia too. Texas? OSU? Michigan? Are their coordinators salaries that high?Kane Wommack
South Alabama salary = $810,000
Alabama DC salary = $2,000,000
He’s going to more than double his salary.
For 2023 as far as I can tell:Makes you realize why their coordinators are so good. Georgia too. Texas? OSU? Michigan? Are their coordinators salaries that high?
The jury is still out but I think he'll do well; whether "well" is good enough remains to be seen (as in averaging 2-3 losses a year, versus 1).Great hire for DeBoer. Kane will kill it there!
Good call. I never thought he'd do it... Smart move on his part though and Very smart move on DeBoers part...I mentioned that potential move a couple of days ago. I have a feeling that was not a direct quote.Good for him but has sure left his assistants out to dry. His parting words to them "good luck to you fellas, hope you find a job"
Tongue in cheek but it's the true shitty deal for his assistantsI have a feeling that was not a direct quote.
Life is rough. They'll be fine.Tongue in cheek but it's the true shitty deal for his assistants
Im betting the OC gets the HC job and basically everyone keeps their jobs.Life is rough. They'll be fine.

Not fine, you have a great year and your out on the streetLife is rough. They'll be fine.
Well DeBoer won’t have to answer questions about imminent retirement … will need to win 10 next year to get that top 5 class, I think. May get better QB prospects with DeBoer and OC having a recent Heisman hopeful. The jury is still out but I think he'll do well; whether "well" is good enough remains to be seen (as in averaging 2-3 losses a year, versus 1).
The biggest hurdle will be retaining a top 3 spot year in year out in Recruiting... Given that they just lost their top recruiter to Georgia that might be tough...
If I was to bet on anyone out there pulling this off however (following a legend) I'd go with DeBoer...
Reports are that Alabama players were impressed with DeBoer after meeting with him. I think defensive players will love Wommack. Who else DeBoer brings in will tell how his first year goes but remember his first year with Washington following a disaster of a season DeBoer won 11 games an improvement of 7 more wins.Well DeBoer won’t have to answer questions about imminent retirement … will need to win 10 next year to get that top 5 class, I think. Who wants to bet me he won't hire Hiller to coach his line?Reports are that Alabama players were impressed with DeBoer after meeting with him. I think defensive players will love Wommack. I think not getting T Rob and getting Womack is actually a blessing. Womack is really good against spread offenses. Still bet they end up with the OC. I can't imagine they would get betterDoing a national search
You know that assistant coaches are the people that make or break about 95% of head coaches. That is why they hire guys they are somewhat familiar with.Tom Allen should be appreciative and buy DeBoar and Kane something along the lines of new Bentleys because those two dudes made Allen a ton of cash$$$$
Well Womack isn’t off to the best start. He just lost the best defensive back in the nation to the portal. Caleb Downs. You know that assistant coaches are the people that make or break about 95% of head coaches. That is why they hire guys they are somewhat familiar with.

And Venable's seats getting warm in NormanTrue that.
Dabo and Clemson haven’t been the same since Venables left to go to OK.
it wasn't Venables leaving as much as Tony Robinson the Offensive coordinator. Offense has been a real struggle for them.True that.
