The process for drilling for more oil to the point where we are the largest producer in the world began over 20 years ago in the Bush administration. Trump did not do a single thing to help us "get over the hump". The exact same thing would have happened if Hillary were elected. Being energy net positive is the very definition of energy indpendent.
