In Indiana, the new Governor issued an EO entitled Return to Work. Starting July 1, state employees must be in office 5 days a week. Currently, the state offers a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and 2 at home.
So, if the new Governor was ending hybrid schedules, why is the EO entitled Return to Work? Because this whole fully in office movement is fueled by the ignorance of people who hate government. Rubes actually believe that state employees have not worked since Covid and the new Governor wants people to think that.
Hybrid work was a perk employees greatly appreciated and it cost the state nothing. Before the previous Governor issued a slate of pro employee policies, including hybrid work, the state was hemorrhaging workers and couldn’t hire new ones. These policies changed things immensely. So why would the new guy undo it all? And for what?
