We made the win today look pretty easy. I haven’t had a chance to review the box score and watch the game a second time. Lily had 20 points which was a big day for her. Sid hit some three-pointers that seem to really help us. Moren has forgotten more Basketball than I ever knew of course, but I would like to have her teach me the benefits of playing the starters so late into the game when you’re ahead by 30. What little I saw of faith and Valentine makes me very hopeful for the future. on the negative side yard and went down with some type of a leg injury, but she did walk off the court. She never came back in, but that may have been because of the score rather than she couldn’t come in. We’ll have to wait and see on that.

In my opinion, for this game at least, the starters were in and playing zone in preparation for UCLA next week.

Wiseman looks outclassed and I’m not sure she has a future here. If she does it will be limited and not until her junior year.

Yarden had ice on her ankle. I was afraid it was her knee.

Disappointing to hear your take on Faith. Hope it proves wrong. Syd Fenn is redshirted this year. Have to wait and see on her. Strip is out of eligibility but Lilly will be back.
Maya is our only big commitment for next year.
Syd Parish shot great today. 5-6 and 3-4 from distance. Plays with a big brace on her left knee.
Team was. 500 from 3 today

I'll.second the opinion on Faith Wiseman. Even at garbage time she looks like she has no business being out there. I can see literally no scenario where she gets any meaningful minutes. That's too bad. Coach is going to have to find another post player in the portal this spring.

Hey, she's a freshman. Cmon. Jfc

That's why she needs to redshirt. No?
I'm asking because I don't know. I never saw any of her high school play. What was her game about? Did she have a mid range game? Could she put the ball on the floor? Was she a back to the bucket post player? Was she proficient running the floor.... Could she finish at the rim? There's currently nothing obvious in terms of what she brings.

I'm not trying to bash her. Like I said, at this juncture, she goes in at garbage time and she looks the part of someone you put in at garbage time. I'm sure she's an outstanding young woman and maybe by her jr year, with a lot of improvement, she could become a rotation player... At best. We needed a post player that could develop. Somebody who would share post time with Lilly next season. I think this was a miss.

I know nothing about her game other than she played at Indian Creek so she probably dwarfed most of her HS competition. But she would have been recruited with AAU competition as well and you would think that would have provided more opportunities to see her against similar competition.

I’ll say the longer than expected minutes was a remedy for the stints of inconsistent play earlier this fall.

I'd hate to give up on someone after only ~20 minutes of play all year, especially someone that tall and long. Give her some time to acclimate to the college game.

A freshman that won’t play one meaningful minute this season and is far below the level Lily was as a frosh. She’s not very good

I think that's a way too premature take. We don't need Faith to play since we have Striplin. In Lilly's frosh year, she played a little more because 1) we were blowing out teams by 40 vs. losing to Harvard and Butler, and 2) Geary was not the player we expected.

Saying she is "not very good", after watching her for 19 minutes in mop up time, is an ignorant statement. Unless you have attended the practices and watched her prep career. Did you?

Lily, in her freshman year, you didn't have to watch for too long to see she did a good job of running the floor and finishing at the rim. She already had a knack for getting offensive rebound / put backs.
Nobody would be happier than me if next season, Faith is a high major big. Maybe there are things going on behind the scenes and we'll be wowed next season.

Do you know who has attended the practices and watched her prep career? The coaches that have decided she isn’t good enough to play unless we’re up 30 points. Even though particularly at the beginning of the season, we needed help in the post.

I’ll be very happy if she contributes at all this season or next, but I have serious doubts.

Well, yes, you didn't have to watch too long as she was able to actually play as we were beating teams by 40-50. She also got to play with Berger.

Wiseman has not played because our games have been close or losses. Add in we have a better than solid backup in Striplin (as compared to Geary 2 yrs ago), and Faith won't play much. I wish she had been redshirted.

I have no idea how good Wiseman is or is not. But to compare her first 13 games and 19 minutes to Lilly's time is apples to oranges.

Exactly. The coaches who recruited her and determined she is good by offering her a scholarship. You said she is not good and far below Lilly as a frosh. I think that is an ignorant statement.

If Striplin was on the 22-23 team and those games were as close as our current season's games, a frosh Lilly wouldn't have seen the court. Context matters.

How much have you seen Faith play this year? Because I’ve seen every minute of it.

Every minute as well, all 19 of them. And all of Lilly's frosh year as well. Most, if any, of Wiseman's minutes were not with the starting guards. Lilly, her frosh year as the primary backup, not 3rd string like Wiseman, still had Berger, Chloe, Sara, and Sydney around her when Mack took a seat.

Wiseman is playing with Hanna, V, Jules, and Bargesser. Plus Lilly got to play against and learn from an AA in Mack. Wiseman is not practicing against that level of competition.

You may end up being 100% correct in the long run. I just think 19 minutes is not enough time to come to the conclusion that she is "not good".

So you have seen all of her minutes but also unaware tgat Beumont is out all year so there is no chance she played a second with her!!
