Israel under attack from Hamas

Multimillionaire Kurdish businessman Peshraw Dizayee and several members of his family were among the dead, killed when at least one rocket crashed into their home, Iraqi security and medical sources said.

Dizayee, who was close to the ruling Barzani clan, owned businesses that led major real estate projects in Kurdistan.

Additionally, one rocket had fallen on the house of a senior Kurdish intelligence official and another on a Kurdish intelligence center, the security sources

The ship was carrying bulk steel … symbolic gesture … for revenge … or poor targeting intelligence?

Let’s see if the attacks stop … (symbolic gesture). But, the fact that a missile got through shows the defense only strategy was flawed.

PS. “… the vessel was the Eagle Gibraltar, a Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier. The U.S. military’s Central Command later acknowledged the strike.

“The ship has reported no injuries or significant damage and is continuing its journey,” Central Command said.

ummm I call B7..

Holy crap you sank my battle ship, and the island it was tied to, and the water the the island was setting in, and everything within a 400 mile radius of my little area. You wiped out everything. ouch. I'll go home now. I don't like your version of "propositional response".

Sadly, nothing anyone does will change anything. The section of the world that has a 400AD mentality simply can not play in 2024. We all will once AGAIN, lather rinse repeat. We are on the set of planet of the apes in real time. All they (and we) know is hit, get hit, hit back again, get hit kinda harder but with mean letters, hit back in a clever way......
The ME doesn't want starbucks and EV cars. They want to kill us and be left alone. I guess we have not sent Trans portation Pete to talk to them about EV's yet. That may work.

This thing is going to escalate until China invades India.
Now that would be interesting to set and watch. A shit ton of 17th century on one side, pit against a shit ton of 17th century on the other side, both with 22nd century nuke power. They both still wipe their asses with their fingers. What possibly could go right? ... This is how it all ends isn't it.

What they are doing now will also not open the Red Sea to commercial traffic because ship owners and insurance companies can’t take the chance that the US military will be able to detect every Houthi missile preparing to launch

This is going to sound bad and I am just going to say it, that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the U.S. either. It would firmly plant India into the ring around China we have been trying to construct for one. It makes them far less likely to try and gobble up Taiwan. Finally, it would give us an opportunity to see how their equipment and military actually perform.

I don’t disagree with letting them duke it out in a vacuum, by the effect on global supply chains would be devastating, no? At some point, if somebody starts getting their butt kicked, the nukes may start flying, so there’s that.

True, if you are Machiavellian.

If you care about human life and suffering, though and allow that into the equation, it would be epically bad.

I don't think one could roll the other. It would also be a test of the Russians to see what side they fall on. Honestly, I don't think it is likely to happen because the potential benefit would be small compared to the cost to each.
