Is Romeo hurt? Maybe so.

It will mysteriously flare up before the game and he’ll have to sit out. The next day he’ll be doing cartwheels when he signs with an agent.

And just think, it was all scripted too. He'll probably use the trip to the locker room in the OS game as proof. Its a pure freaking masterpiece.

Reminds me of Noah Vonlehs mystery injury he had towards the end of his freshman season

Soon IU will not have to worry about Indiana Mr. BB as many of them will never play College Basketball in two years from now going forward. It is a sad day when Indiana's best will never don the Cream and Crimson or that of any college team. The Purdue 4 year model will become more common for more college teams. PU will actually be more competitive without the top tier national one-and-done talent that seldom, if ever, goes to PU.

Damn dude. I have never seen you post one positive comment for iu, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Romeo won’t abandoned his team like the kid from Arkansas
I agree with the first sentence but screw playing in the NIT. Unless Romeo is headed for the NBA he doesn't need to play for this...That would be dumb...I wouldn't mind seeing next years version on the floor for most of this anyways.

And with these comments do you really have to wonder why we could have locker room issues this year?

Do you guys feel the same for all the players who have professional aspirations like Morgan?

Again, one of the first question that TOS asked most of the players was 'how excited are you to play with such a special talent like Romeo'?

Reminded me of Fran Tarkington being asked at halftime about how badly would he love to throw to WR's like Cris Carter and Randy Moss?

He answered abruptly and obviously annoyed 'no, I'd rather throw to Amaad Rashad and Sammy White.'

And every Viking fan over the age of 45 at the time cheered.

i welcome that day. a lot of the bullshit that goes with college basketball will be gone with the one and dones

do you think this "news release" came out to set up a viable excuse for romeo to not play at the last second? a more "graceful" exit?

So you must never get excited to see the Indiana Mr. Basketball play for IU? Some of my favorite Hoosiers of all-time have been Indiana Mr. BB. IU Basketball would not be what it has been while winning National Titles without the top Indiana HS players and Indiana Mr. Basketballs. I don't look forward to that day at all. Just like losing the Single Class Basketball Tournament. Its modern. But it's not better.

i never said that. and if a mr basketball wants to come to indiana and play four years he can still do that. that would be awesome.

Mr. BB are likely NBA players. Most NBA players don't play 4 years of college basketball.

Daddy Tim pulling the strings again, maybe he could at least have Romeo sign autographs for 2 hours after game if he can’t play

Not really. Few Mr Bballs are ready to head straight to the pros. Of the last dozen or so, only Greg Oden to me could have played significant minutes straight out of HS. Not to say others like Lyles, Gordon, Swanigan, Cody or Romeo might not have tried, but realistically most of them needed at least a year of college. If they could go straight to the pros, Of the last dozen, I think it's likely that 3 might have gone pro, or 25%. Even if they can go straight to the pros, most Mr BBalls will still be playing college ball.

really will be a shame several yrs from now....all the hype leading up to Romeo's decision last year, pressure on CAM to close the deal, he signs.....and now 12 months later it seems his time at IU will have the same feel to it that Vonleh's did.

If his back is sore he probably should just sit, he doesn't do his team much good shooting 27 footers. It could explain why he has been so dreadful this season from deep.

Good luck in the draft Romeo, thanks for stopping by.

I accept it for what it is . . . an injury RL sustained in the most recent game. He left the OSU game and went to the locker room with a back injury. The result of that injury and the time necessary to heal may or may not keep him out of the game today and/or games moving forward. To suggest it was planned at the time (during the OSU game) or afterward as some veiled attempt to allow RL to skip playing in the NIT is conspiracy theory bs.

Having said that, IU had the opportunity to seal the deal with the NCAA tourney and they came out flat, played uninspired, and begged/dared the committee to leave them out. I will watch the NIT with the same vigor and level of interest the IU players put forth for the majority of the season and throughout most of their last game. So, it really makes no difference to me if RL plays tonight or not. Does anyone truly think THIS IU team will win the NIT? Notice I ask if you think, not if they can (as in have the ability to) win. At some point moving through this NIT bracket I expect another OSU effort resulting in the end of the season for IU. Short of winning the darn thing, I do not see any advantage to playing aside from putting the guys on the floor who will represent IU next year because we have all witnessed what this year's version of IU can/will do over and over and over again.

I apologize for the rant but having watched IU basketball and cheered for my alma mater for the better part of my 58 years, this has to be the most disappointing season I can ever remember. The Cody and Vic team helped pull me through a fight with cancer (some on here who moved over from a previous IU board may remember my posts at the time). I'm convinced watching those games that year helped keep my outlook positive to a point even the loss to Syracuse could not deter the end result. It was inspirational and I truly thought IU was back at that point. This season . . . well, not so much!

Damn man, I had no idea.

Congrats and f#$k cancer.

Oh and I expect them to get to New York but I get the right to change my mind after seeing the effort tonight (we're favored by 17 or so. Even playing like zombies should get the W).

Aw, Indiana’s best will never don the cream and crimson panties...

Isiah left early from IU in the 80s, but look at all the other 4-year stars of the 80s and 90s... there were Mr Basketballs in there. College basketball is better without the one and done.
