Of course Trump’s post election conduct is indefensible. But it was in response to the most despicable , pervasive, and organized election interference campaign in our history—the 2020 presidential campaign. The lies about Covid, the lies about Russia, the lies about Hunter’s laptop, the Charlottesville lie, the lies from Big Media, the 50 intelligence officials lie, the Twitter corruption and more all had the singular focus of removing Trump from office. James Baker, the FBI general counsel, moving to an equivalent position at Twitter in June 2020 is no coincidence given what has become known since about the FBI/Twitter corruption. The FBI admitted to one instance of lying to the FISA court well-before the 2020 campaign (only because it got caught) but the internal corruption never stopped and it was well-hidden. Then pile on with the two highly partisan impeachments and the phony J6 select partisan committee and we have an ugly combination of business/governmental/media corruption that I hope we never see again..
Arguably, there were many legitimate issues to campaign about that would have driven Trump from office. Instead of that, we saw this unprecedented campaign and information corruption in multiple levels and multiple institutions. We paid a high price to kick Trump to the curb. The media blew its brains out and its trust factor approaches single digits. The serious congressional impeachment authority has been reduced to meaningless politics as usual. The CIA and FBI reputations are permanently stained. Public confidence in elections is trashed and any attempt to fix it is met with ideological platitudes .
We need an honest media. We need an FBI and CIA deserving our respect. We need high confidence in elections. We need an effective cooperative congress. We have none of that. But we don’t have Trump. Is it worth it?
