Mine would have to be Mrs. Rect. I think her first name was Dixie. Anyway she taught sex education and really helped build my arsenal. I had no clue what the Portuguese Breakfast was before being introduced to Mrs. Rect and it’s now my go to move.Have any of you had One very specific teacher that changed your life?
I thought you were going to say she taught you the evils of fiat money.Mine would have to be Mrs. Rect. I think her first name was Dixie. His hair was less stark white, but he never had much and it was light colored then with grey. His beard was a bit more salt and pepperish, but he kept it short.
Yes. I had him for Ancient Philosophy (Fall 1991) and German 19th Century Philosophy (92 or 93)(Hegel, Marx, Neitzsche).that's great. Were you in any of his classes?
I was walking around campus like a zombie my first few semesters at IU, but then drugs and sex gave me the confidence I needed to succeed. I'm married now, but still occasionally do drugs. lol.
I watched that then saw a vid from YouTube from some guy trying to teach law students about law school, how to do it well, etc. Guy said you had to study 60 hrs a week in law school, and even then you might not get As. Ridiculous.Any comment about this must be predicated on this video.
I had three law professors who fit this script to a T. Torts, contracts, and evidence. They were equally influential and the lessons I learned from them are still with me. Intimidating? Sure. Learning? Definitely. The learning was how to think. If I had to pick one, it would be the torts guy. His classes on causation were works of art.
I don’t agree with that 60 hours. If don’t get how to think more study won’t help.I watched that then saw a vid from YouTube from some guy trying to teach law students about law school, how to do it well, etc. Guy said you had to study 60 hrs a week in law school, and even then you might not get As. Ridiculous.
Just oneHave any of you had One very specific teacher that changed your life?
The ABA had prosed a standard that property law perpetrated racism and economic discrimination. I don’t know if that was put into effect. That is absolutely wrong. The proper way to approach the issue is ask “does property law promote economic discrimination “
Have any of you had One very specific teacher that changed your life?
Kids now days.... Free booze, dope, shrooms and ..... "experience". How do you sh!t on that set up?Top this Joe, from good ole Martinsville

Indiana teacher accused of forcing boys into group sex while wearing Halloween masks
A minor alleged that the former teacher drugged him with 'shrooms, weed, and that she would make him drink a bottle.'local12.com
According to the station, the minor alleged that Fortinberry drugged him with "shrooms, and weed and that she would make him drink a bottle" when they were together, adding that the drink tasted like alcohol.
The minor further alleged that Fortinberry purchased vapes and marijuana for multiple other alleged victims, and would allegedly force the minors to watch her engage in intercourse if they refused to participate, per WXIN.
WTHR reported that in one incident, Fortinberry allegedly spent $600 on various items for a group of teens and then forced them to have group sex with her, making them all don the mask from the movie "Scream."
White privileged ^^^I had several, but I don’t know that they were life changing. I was already on a pretty decent path, good parents and good schools.

(this is a joke ppl!)
And my father would have had a slight "smurk" of disapproval as he told me how wrong that this is..Ngl Joe, 15 year old me would have been all about that
I don’t remember the name of any K-6 teacher. I only remember my wrestling/boxing coach, swimming coach, and Spanish teacher from 7-12. Learned much about leadership from them and it served me well for my military and civilian careers in positions of leadership. I remember the names of only two professors during my undergrad years. None except my Thesis Advisor from my first postgrad degree and only one from second too. That guy taught military history and was great at it and I love history. I remember what many of the others look like, but that’s about it.You don’t? Thats pretty unusual I’d think. I can name all of my elementary easily. Quite a few but not all middle and high school. Interestingly enough, not many professors.
Naval, or better, Navy.Classic!! But I’m not a pup. I’m 55. I remember the one very specific teacher, who was a WW2 navel vet… who gave me The praise to make me … much more proud of myself than I should be. I honestly loved that man.
He told me what I could do… but not how to control that confidence.
Thus I know my capabilities… but not how to be humble enough. (Out loud humble I mean)
Anyway, that one person… in your life… one… and why?
He has the same haircut. That Aloha?
Still see my swimming coach just about every year. My high school has an invitational swim meet every year named after him. They also recognize him and all the former swimmers just before the diving competition. The coach moved to Texas and coached for years there winning a butt ton of state championships. Was an Assistant Coach on one of the Olympic Water Polo teams and is in the Texas swimming hall of fame. Great guy. Unfortunately, he had a fall while visiting a former swimmer in the hospital and suffered some brain trauma. I don’t think he recognized us at the next invitational. Sad.Had horrible grades always. In college had a soccer t shirt on and this guy benching said he’s been to some of the games and asked what I was majoring in. Hardcore Bostonian. Told him I didn’t know. He was a poli sci prof. Told me to try it. First paper I wrote he graded with “see me.” Guy literally made me do a shit ton of extra work to catch up. We’d meet at the gym to lift. Wrote my rec for grad schools. Law school. Life-changing teacher. We still email a few times a year
But you never saw his belly button!Naval, or better, Navy.Sounds like he made a difference.
