Only had a few Hall worthy seasons. The rest of his career was OK but not great. Career WAR is 20 points lower than the average 1st baseman in the Hall. 7 best season WAR is 10 points lower than the average for Hall 1st baseman. Good but not great career.

Plus, as a Dodgers fan, he stinks. Terrible manager that wasted Kershaws career.

Mattingly was a dog shit manager who didn't know how to manage a pitching staff properly. Blew his pitchers arms out during the regular season and they had no gas left at the end. This is common knowledge around baseball.
