If May were still desirable

It’s not out the question:

May’s buyout, should he leave for another job, starts at $5 million and decreases each of the next four years, from $4 million to $2 million to $1 million to $500,000. If he’s fired without cause, the university will owe him 70% of his remaining base salary

There could be some backroom noises.

He is a Wolverine now so that ship has sailed. I bet he is such a Wolverine that he watched Red Dawn over and over yelling out with the American teen soldiers, "Wolverine!".

UK was recently turned down by some pretty big names and had to settle with a former player, so why would IU be able to attract a bigger name? This isn’t 35 years ago.
I think the expectations at UK and IU are much different. These two schools aren't fishing in the same pond. Coaching prospects wouldn't be the same people.

But no alpha male. No big dog. No one who could potentially ever become bigger than the program ever again. No one with a jaywalking citation on their resume.

Those are the Indiana administrators rules.

"Alpha
Beta
Alpha
Alpha
Beta
beta..."

I'm just imagining what it must be like to walk down the street w you as you assess all the dudes you pass...

Myself, I spy females.

People who think too hard about their alpha-ness are likely Master-beta males.

Do you have a link saying Pearl is not liking the NIL?
Because I benefit from lying about it?...Such a 3 year old mentality amongst you fools. Lmao...to find this link...I had to do the hard work of a Google search "Pearl on NIL". It's really sad that instead of searching for it for yourself, you insinuate that I'm lying, because it ruins your little plan to bring a coach here, that would never come here and deal with this shit fan base to begin with....lol. Also...just shows how much information you fools don't have. In short, non of you know a damn thing. LolHey, check out this article: https://www.essentiallysports.com/n...?utm_source=navbar&utm_campaign=article_share
Also...it hilarious that you idiots are talking about May. He coaches a team with the same record as IU, who has lost both games against ranked opponents, and also kost to Wake Forest....lol...hypocrites.
Michigan scores less than 3 points a game more than IU...but May is an offensive juggernaut?...lol...they also turn the ball over more than IU. Yeah...he's the answer....idiots.

What the hell does he even mean? I thought Sampson was an incredible coach and we should have kept him.
I think at the time Sampson wasn’t on Greenspan’s final list. Herbert intervened and push Sampson on Greenspan.

Would love for Greenspan to tell the story sometime. I think if Greenspan would have hired one his final 3, we wouldn’t have been wondering in the wilderness all these years.

He wanted Beilein but Herbert overruled him when he found out Beilein was white.

Yep, I know the story. Have to respect Greenspan for taking the bullet. He never put the blame where it belonged. Herbert was giddy over Sampson. I got to listen to him and his wife tell me how great Sampson was the entire night of Hoosier Hysteria.

Maybe, but that's not exactly saying much. I think we've seen enough of what Alford has achieved at his other HC gigs to know that he isn't the coach we're looking for.
Ah, the obligatory put-down of Alford. Congrats.

I've never seen this referenced here.
May have missed it.
This is accurate.
Greenspan would have liked to hire Stallings but felt the fan base would not accept him with his Purdue history.
Despite the friendship between RMK & Stallings.

Beilein was a Dakich recommendation.

We had just been honored that year by one of the national Civil rights groups and Herbert wasn't going to fire a minority coach and hire a white coach. Thats the also not wrong.

Pete was part of the pro-Woody crew. He doesn't know anything about college basketball coaches.

Maybe Bruce is the right guy, but that conclusion needs to come from Scott. Pete/Cook, the Simons, other dumb boosters, and the BoT all need to stop meddling with the basketball program.
it is bad when you have a guy in charge of an operation (like a D1 basketball team) that is good at looking up and terrible at looking down at what he is responsible for. Unfortunately this crowd tends to like candidates that look up rather than down.
