The article was mostly talking about how well SD is conducting the search. He writes about Dolson having a tight circle of people involved who are reaching out to candidates and throws out some of the names we have already heard. Here are the specific comments about
Holtmann

“Internally, Dolson and his tiny inner circle have been kicking around some of the biggest names in coaching. They’ve even revisited the name of Chris Holtmann, whom you might recall was still at Butler in March 2018 when IU hired Archie Miller. The frustration of IU fans lamenting the hiring of Miller and not Holtmann has grown in recent years as Holtmann has turned Ohio State into a powerhouse — the Buckeyes were a No. 2 seed in the 2021 NCAA tournament — while IU was sliding into the abyss.

Yes, IU has done its due diligence this time around on Holtmann, and learned his buyout is significant. Dolson has said he found one booster to cover the cost of Miller’s buyout and found another to cover the “transition” cost, which means whatever it costs to buy out the current contract of IU’s next coach. What’s unknown is whether IU has the ability to cover all of Holtmann’s buyout — a “significant” amount, is all I’m hearing on that from a source close to the search, and remember, Miller’s wasn’t exactly insignificant at $10.3 million — or whether Holtmann has any interest in IU. He’s at Ohio State, remember, one of the best jobs in the country. He’s not exactly looking to leave.”

Some due diligence. Several posters here could dig up Holtmann’s buyout with little effort. This is much ado about nothing.
