I love shutting up the haters...

Great win. I didn't see it coming. No way. Coaching staff and players deserve epic props. Still we have to make the dance or this year was an epic fail. The season is judged by not an individual game.

Not sure I would consider it an epic fail. It would be a fail, but nobody can realistically ignore the injuries. I can’t recall a worse situation regarding injuries than I have seen this year. I mean, losing Henderson was huge and cost us a NC IMO, but this year has been crazy with the number of games missed with injury. To think that hasn’t been a big obstacle this year would be ignorant.

Yay! A positive post. All cred to Big Red Buff! Congrats man. You have a good night sir! Seriously. That took its toll on you. I know.

I leave us all with a meme to enjoy!

You know, there are many decaffeinated brands on the market now days that are just as tasty!

I reserve that one for Izzo.

That POS said that he didn’t think the game was “well officiated.”

They get away with so much pushing and shoving. Every year, he has about 3 goons inside who grab, push, elbow and foul all game.

No respect for a guy who houses rapists and sex offenders in his basement.

Here it is. Apparently the only way to be elite again is to lose a lot. Like all of this year and next until Miller gets fired instead of hoping this team and coach turns it around:

Was the IPFW loss last year an omen of things to come?

Hey. We can stand together as a wall against that ****ing scumbag Izzo. That POS can burn in Hell.

Hopefully we can win some more games but just playing hard like today is all I care about just checked our RPI were at 58 so we have alot of work to do..

You know it’s a cold day in hell when a uk fan comes here to tell the haters I told you so. Archie is a good coach and will get you guys going. Hopefully you don’t go out and shit the bed the next game. You won without Morgan also. Romeo did ok but took some stupid ass shots especially the one before overtime. That was a pitiful attempt with no chance of going in

Isnt it fun watching them reeling with excuses while they scurry like roaches into the cracks? They can’t even enjoy a great win.

I get upset with piss poor play, but I can be positive with good play, coaching and a great win. Some just cringe when we do well because they thrive on suffering.

The tears are tasty.

Yep, great team win. Coaching, D, discipline, shooting... all better and fun to watch.

Sorry you couldn't add to your little thread on RR last night...douche.

It remains to be seen whether or not this was a turning point or just a blip on the radar. I hope it was a turning point...

Giving up a 22-0 run to Rutgers deserved some serious criticism
The game against Rutgers was pathetic. In most aspects. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t enjoy the good times and continue to support this team and coach. Wishing for them/him to fail just to provide proof for your stance is pathetic. Even when I wanted Crean gone, I didn’t root against the team.

I wouldn’t take anything seriously that ufo33 has to say. That guy may have been abducted by a UFO.

That’s the same nutjob saying that IU soccer should be able to support our athletic budget as the primary sport and that the sport itself is more popular than football in this country.

Dude is on some serious crack or stuck in the back of some soccer mom’s mini van getting high from the fumes.

It was called sarcasm mixed with frustration of the last 50 years of a overall losing football program . Combined with IU's 8 National Soccer Championships. Maybe IU soccer could market their Nationally Ranked better and help make up the money difference from a losing foorball program that never competes for B1G Titles and doesn't go to bowls. Soccer is by far the world's most popular sport. That is fact. Soccer is more popular in Indiana than in many states. Indiana is not a football state, and never will be. No, i dont think Soccer could replace football, but you could leverage the IU Soccer program's success into better financial gains by IU. Why can't the IU soccer team play in Memorial Stadium in prime time on B1G or on ESPN? I see soccer continue to gain in popularity in the USA. Premier Cup games are now on Network TV in the USA. The best answer would be for IU football to be successful, but I don't see that happening without a major/home run coaching hire. Contrast 8 National Titles for IU Soccer, to the1967 Rose Bowl IU football. The last major bowl by IU football, 52 years ago. Our local high school in Indiana has had more students try out for Basketball and Wrestling than HS football. In fact, the coaches are now pleading with the parents to stop the trend of dwindling numbers for HS football due to concussion and serious injury fears by parents, and a general student disinterest in a annually losing football program. The HS Football team draws a small smattering of under 100 parents and friends, while the basketball team fills the gym to the rafters with several thousand fans every home game.

I was thrilled to see the win, and it was great to see the team grind through the whole game. There was definitely more try and heart than we’ve seen much of this year. However, MSU’s terrible free throw night contributed to this win as much as anything. If MSU comes close to their season FT average, IU loses handily by double digits. That makes the next games definite wait and see games for me.

If Juwan can play on Thursday the only players missing due to injury would be Hunter and McRoberts. That would be the healthiest IU has been all season.

Are you this dense?

This is the same tired argument made in a variety of different forms in many different sectors of life.

Is it okay for me to say that since you don’t like the President of the U.S. that you aren’t a supporter of our country?

I’m an IU alum. Doesn’t mean I have to pump sunshine up my own ass and walk around endorsing everything without a discerning eye:

The problem is that you just don't provide a opposing voice to the "sunshine pumpers". You have been spewing over the top hyperbole. Calling Archie a charlatan and without looking it up, a pretend coach. That is the definition of over the top to me.

I haven't seen ANYONE that said the coach, the AD or anyone employed by IU can't be criticized. For me, all I ask is that it is done in a reasonable manner. Maybe that is asking too much from an internet forum.

I’d be right there with you my friend if IU could build a 100,000 seat soccer stadium and fill it. If they did that, you can forget everything else. Until then, the demand in this country is football and basketball. Now, if IU moves the campus to Europe, you got something cooking!

Then IU needs to get serious about football and get out the big wallet and hire a bowl level football coach. Or you will never have a consistently successful football program.

There are those of us like fpeaugh, IUgradman and myself that have to provide a check and balance for your snowflake asses.

It’s a a natural order of things. Checks and balances. We are here to push and hold accountable those that operate this sports machine at IU. Doesn’t mean we want the team to lose. That’s completely silly.

So, you and IU Scott are there to put on your cheerleader skirts and wave your pom poms. That serves a purpose as well. It’s about balance...with the same goal in sight.

Let's all back away from the ledge and take a breath. Was this an important win? yes. Does it solve all our problems? No this team has warts and rough spots that won't be corrected by one victory. Was it a thing of beauty? No. You probably won't see another game for years where the Home Team makes only 8 of 22 free throw attempts, and you win a game despite a terrible offensive play decision at the end of regulation, and a couple of guards who seemed to do everything they could to in the last 30 seconds of overtime to hand the game back to MSU.

Do I want this team to lose to prove a point about coaching? No I want the players to have as much success as possible, and this game gives them confidence to move forward and know that they can compete with good teams when they show up and play with intensity and effort. Do I like to lose? NO. And I especially don't like to lose to less talented teams due to poor effort, poor decision making, and lack of intensity.

For now, I'll enjoy the win and hope it can be a springboard for a long winning streak. The other issues can be addressed after the year ends, when we can look back at the results more objectively without the emotion of the moment.

In the last few months IU has finally spent more. They retained Ballou and Rhea by giving them huge raises and then landed DeBoer by giving him a huge salary. The Tallen Complex budget was increased as well. About dang time. Hopefully it pays off soon.
