I bought a new pair of FootJoy Contour golf shoes for around $28.00 today.

Of course, I had $75.00 in shop credits at our club for placing in Men's Golf Association events this year and I also received a 20 percent membership discount. What a great deal!

After walking 18 holes in them this afternoon, I am looking forward to wearing them in our big-time annual golf tournament next Sunday.

i've always hated FootJoy golf shoes. Most uncomfortable golf shoe in my opinion. Adidas and Eccos are comfy.

and for what it's worth, I played yesterday and played one of my worst rounds of the summer after having a good month. it was miserable. one of those round where you just don't want to even finish. but at least my feet were comfy because i was not wearing FJ's.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I'm on my 3rd pair of FJs now. I just got the Pro SLs this year. Had the Hyperflex the last 2 end one other kind before that.

There's a reason they're the #1 shoe in golf and worn by more pros than any other brand.

I think you have poorly designed feet.

It's been years since I've worn them so maybe they've improved. But when I was younger I hated them. Felt like bricks on my feet. And I'm talking 20+ years ago. I just won't try them again. No need.

You should do a commercial for them.

Does good shoes help you break 80 on the course?

I need a new pair of golf shoes. Anyone tried the Skecher's shoes? Matt Kuchar wouldn't lie, would he? Seriously, I definitely have poorly designed feet; so support to me is as important as comfort.

No, but I'm sure they're comfortable.

Just go and try on a bunch of different pairs, and let the people working know what's most important to you (pro shop, Golf Galaxy, Dick's, etc.).

What $ said. Honestly, so many love FJ's and I don't. I am sure many don't like Adidas or Ecco's, I do. So you just need to go and try different pairs on. Also consider switching out your insole with a pair of orthotics. A lot of the insoles that come with the shoes we buy suck and provide little arch support, etc...

I was being kind of a dick earlier, but I figured you had some foot issues that I, thankfully, don't. I'm fortunate in that regard, as well as not having back or joint issues, even with a knee I tore both my ACL and meniscus on.

I didn't take it that way at all. It's the AOTF.

I've dealt with faciitis and it is not fun. Getting older sucks.

AMEN. I had a weird knee issue about a month ago. A knee that I've had problems with and think I tore the meniscus in but didn't get it repaired. Anyway, I went to the PGA Championship on Friday and walked alot then the next day helped my son move in at NC St. My knee started swelling and I was icing for a few days, but after about 4 days, I was at work, sat down to talk to a coworker, and couldn't stand up. My knee would just not straighten out. Had to have fluid drained and get a steroid shot and it was better the next day. This was over a month ago however and despite a PT regimen, it still doesn't feel right. Getting old sucks!

Good golf shoes make a difference just like good basketball shoes do in basketball. I shot an 86 on our tough course Saturday while wearing my new shoes, but it should have been close to an 80. The staff had just aerified and top dressed the greens and the greens were inconsistent as a result. I am not criticizing our course, by the way. All courses have inconsistent greens after they are aerified and top dressed.

I wear inserts because I have flat feet. Most FootJoy shoes have inserts I can remove so I can use my custom made ones.

Jesus. What an old man thread.

Who makes the best adult diapers?

Not sure, but my best guess is Foot Joy. I'll go double or nothing that McNutt has a fun and entertaining yarn about adult diapers on the golf course also.

I have two pair of Contours ( gray and tan),. Since they do not have cleats I wear them to work on casual days. They are very comfortable and look great. I can go from the office directly to the course with no change. I am a fan. I have Adidas, Footjoy, Nike and New Balance golf shoes. I like them all except the New Balance. The NB are incredibly wide in the front part of the shoe and I have regular width size feet. They would be good for people with unusually sized feet. My all time favorite shoe is the Nike TW 2015 shoe which can still be found on the internet for really cheap ($75).

I bought some Callaway Del Mar on closeout last year for like $34. Bought it for the price but ended up being the best/most comfortable golf shoe I had worn. I had to search hard for another pair. Just recently I bought some Puma BioDrive on clearance and am very happy with them as well. For what it's worth, my feet are a little wide.

I don't have an anecdote about adult diapers on the golf course, but I do have one about something similar. When I was about finished writing my book in 2014, I mentioned to a buddy while we were playing golf about how the average person farts 14 times a day. He said it wasn't true and proceeded to fart close to 20 times while four of us were playing two holes. His father was a member of our foursome and he jokingly gave me a hard time for mentioning it to his 40+ year-old son. We were laughing so hard, it was difficult to even play golf. Let's just say that part of our round stunk.

You sound like a shoe collector.

I play with a few guys like that, they have a different pair on each round. I've never collected mutiple pairs of golf shoes at one time (more than 2 at a time)

if you don't fart on the downswing, you really aren't giving it your best rip.

I do have six pairs currently and I wear them all. I do walk whenever I can so this keeps them fresh. Golf is my thing so I treat myself to whatever I need to make it enjoyable. I bought a Clicgear push cart this year and I really like it. Right now I am coveting the new Ping driver but only because I am hitting my M2 like crap right now.

Ahh, another side-splitting yarn to start the day! Thanks!

Just curious how many times the "pull my finger" gag is used during your average round? Such hijinks!

Try the Epic. It's a great club.

We did the "pull my finger" prank when we were young, but not as adults. I did ask a urologist a question the other day. I asked him whether a patient had ever farted while he was checking his prostate. He said it had never happened to him. That is hard to imagine, isn't it?
