After we beat Notre Dame 55 - 6 this Friday evening how many of you are planning on heading down to the Sugar Bowl?

If the weather is stable it's not a bad drive down there especially if you're a history buff...

If you spend more than a day down there (in N.O.) don't miss the World War Two Museum...

If you drive down be sure to visit Shiloh along the way (among other sites)...

The Hermitage is a nice place to see in Nashville just to say you did...

I am still trying to figure out great pre-game places to go in Atlanta before our game on Jan 20th.

Will be a big crew from EVV. Not sure how many but I've been put on notice they are all staying with me in Mobile before the game. Not asking. Massive grin! Honestly, it could get ugly and cost me a fortune. Mobile is one of the best places in the US for foodies. I'll have to throw down on crawfish and low country boil (shrimp, crab legs, corn, etc.) and a huge b fast. Wife will be freaked but I hope it all happens. Happy Holidays.

In ATL, I'll be in Buckhead with my roomie and his fam. In it to win it! Go Hoosiers!

We took a little bacon and we took a little beans and we fought the bloody bulldogs in the town of New Orleans .

I lived in the French Quarter for ten years.
Going to the World War II museum is a must. You will need a full day to do it justice.
If you do bars, I suggest The Blacksmith Shop (original building so 100s of years old), The Montleone bar (a carousel bar surrounded by areas with plush leather chairs and couches), and perhaps a cigar from a bench overlooking the Mississippi.
I’m glad to suggest restaurants if anyone would like.
A 2 game win streak to start the CFP would sure be nice.

Im spending NYE in Mobile in route
To New Orleans. What’s the happening spot for a 54 year old on NYE who usually goes to bed about 10:00??

What I cannot figure out is where we will play after the Sugar Bowl? Either Dallas or Miami, but the charts aren’t clear on which one is on our path. Would like to start thinking about that trip as well.

Mobile has the Moon pie drop. Family focused event for all ages downtown. It is a big Moon Pie that drops at midnight. Mardis Gras started in Mobile so it's part of the landscape. Plenty of party spots with live music on Dauphin Street/ downtown. French quarter kind of place but much cleaner and safer. Soul kitchen has touring bands. There will be people your age and older on Dauphin Street having a blast.

Went to the 1982 Finals in the Dome. Drove over to Illinois and rode the famous 'City of New Orleans' . Hit all the spots, Antoines, Court of the Three. Sisters, etc. After game in the Quarter was great..

Already bought the seats I want. I’m fully prepared for this to be an EXPENSIVE December/January in the TMFT household.

After 8 home games, 4 away games (including a flight to LA), a bonus B1G championship game (just in case), a road playoff game and potentially 3 bowl games in a month…..I’ve told Jr that we’re not doing this again, in the future we’ll have to be a little more choosy.

Need a restaurant suggestion for before the game.
Depends, of course, on how much time you have and what you would like to spend. Great French Quarter restaurants would be Brennens, Irene’s Antoine’s, Pelican Club (higher end places)
Less costly, but still in the quarter, Felix or Acme (across the street from each other).
The Quarter has become less safe so walk in groups.
Need a restaurant suggestion for before the game.

For a good eatery nearly world famous you can't leave NO without enjoying BBQ Shrimp at Pascal Manales. Undamnbelievable! I believe it is in the Garden District.

It's been a long time since I've been there but every visit our agenda has been nothing but
#1 Look for a place to eat--> #2 Eat--> #3 Repeat
Yes, we're fat now.

1. Pralines (just found out it's officially pronounced Praw-leens, who knew?) Freshly made NOLA pralines are the best in the world.
2. Seafood Platter - 24" round of crabs, mudbugs, shrimp, fish, oysters, potatoes and corn. *Growing up in NW IN, I did not like fish but down here, Gulf Coast, oh wow, seafood is so much better.
3. Po'boy or Muffuletta - Slidell used to have the best oyster po'boy but it was skillet fried, not deep fried which made it greasier, sloppy and richer. IMO, wetter is better. Both the Po'boy and Muffuletta the bread makes it. Orleans makes good bread.
4. Live Blues - I think NOLA blues are different than Chicago blues. Where Chicago is darker and more searching and soulful, New Orleans is more horns, more "up" and jazz infused.
5. Abita beer. I don't like all of their variants but Restoration was really good unfortunately it was a limited run. I don't drink anymore so I don't know what they replaced it with.

Forgot the name of the place off Jackson Square famous for beignets....and dark, rich coffee..

Laisses Les Bon Temps Rouler..,(or something near that).

How ‘bout some Dixie beer?!?!

Been years since been there. Unfortunately, Bart’s on the Lake (by UNO) and I think, Jim’s Fried Chicken is also no longer. Anyone know if Copeland’s in Slidell or Kenner are still around? Daiquiri’s?

Agree tho I think Central Grocery has better Muffulettas. It also is in the quarter.
Also agree the House of Blues has great music.
Plenty of music venues, too many to see them all.
Your morning after hangover meal can be Cafe Du Monde (beignets are three per order and the coffee has chicory). If you need more than sweets for breakfast try the black cat - El Gato Negro. Grandfather cooks and son runs the place. Good omelets and grits.

We take trips to Nola 2 or more times a year and prefer the cozier, small places walking distance in French Quarter.

Restaurants: Luke next door to Hilton St. Charles (best breakfast in Nola), Mr Eds on Royal St, Peche Seafood Grill (close to WW2 museum)

Day drinking bar: Chart Room on Chartres St (French Quarter parades start here)

Must do: WW2 Museum

Over 4 decades ago my bride and I honeymooned in the FQ for 5 days and 5 nights. Needless to say there was damn little time, effort or planning wasted on sleeping.
