How are we not talking about the brewing bribery-for-pardon scandal?

I said it back then. Just let it go and move on, for the good of the country.

But Trump literally broke a lot of people. You see it in this thread.

Now we’re stuck.
I’ll admit that 1/6 really pissed me off and made me worry about our country. I know others don’t feel the same, but that was a momentous day, and not in a good way. It showed the worst of us.

But the passage of time has shown that we are a resilient lot and we keep chugging on. The country as a whole will have its ups and downs, but for almost all of us, the POTUS has no effect on our daily lives. Because of that, I quit paying as much attention to politics. I made a similar decision with IU bball about 10 years ago. I’m certainly happier as a result of those choices. Especially the bball part.

I think it's funny that the world turned out backwards. Now we have Dems hiding behind pardons and Repubs promising lawfare. Four years sure changes a lot.

Maybe both side ought to admit they are just as corrupt and despicable as the other? In other words, don't trust politicians or political parties.

Why can't we find some people to run for president that aren't constantly doing something illegal so they don't need pardons because they haven't done anything illegal.
Because the press and those on the far right and far left will try to immediately destroy them. Therefore, great people take a pass and stay in their jobs.

I think we should elect people by lot.
@Marvin the Martian i don’t think Sortition is the answer bc most of the public is pretty bad but I do wonder if there are other ways. I think it not being a career would be assistive. AOC thinking this is what her career is. Grassley on the other end. Term limits or even part time. Meet by zoom. People with other active careers. And I get the continuity lobbying etc issues that may implicate but it might be beneficial

That’s what made me look up this thread, I remembered the uproar over the idea of Trump pardoning himself and/or his family. The most corrupt administration in American history was a commonly used phrase back then.

Of course, Joe is the only American president to EVER pardon immediate family members, not to mention basically his ENTIRE immediate family.

Completely ass backwards in four years.
Didn't Jimmy pardon Billy?

I also thought Nixon pardoned his brother, but I may be misremembering that.

You're joking, right? Trump could have pardoned his family and himself and didn't, because he knew the charges against him were bogus.
Sorry bud but pardoning rioters who attempted to subvert democracy…. That’s pretty nasty

So you agree with Kamala that there is great significance in the passage of time.....

Because they're not. There's only one Party that wants to change America into a country of woke freaks - and will do it by any means necessary, including lawfare against the other Party.

Of course there are corrupt individuals in both Parties. But if you want a Party that promotes the Constitution, Capitalism, and traditional Americanism, there's only one Party to vote for.
