For sure Howards fault. He wanted to kill him.
Then MI guys were just throwing haymakers... I mean what are you suppose to do when you see your coach slap/hit an assistant.
I rewatched after the TO was called and Howard was steaming and had his guys foul WI. Then he death stared down at GG. I mean he lost his mind. Cant do that when you are a leader of 18-22 year olds.
Why was Howard upset? Appears it stemmed from a timeout Gard called. But there has to be consequences for Howard. I wouldn’t call it a punch. But he definitely went after the assistant for Wiscy.
I didn’t see Guard throw any hands. Probably just a tsunami of verbal assaults.
Guard grabbed him by the arm and then it went sideways. Just about the time you think it was gonna die down, Howard with a big open right hand over the top to bitch slap a wiscy assistant.
I don't know who the 2 meatchicken players in the rear center of that scrum were, but that kind of handspeed put belts on Leonard and Duran.
I do my see how he couldn’t be. He’s lucky he did a pseudo slap / grab vs a punch.
Howard walks passed and doesn't even want to make eye contact, let alone shake his hand. Then GG grabs him kind of and Howard has none of it, he was going to fight at that point.
And a new hated rivalry is born!

I think to make it all the worse is after it was all over he’s still standing near the baseline near his bench staring toward Wiscy. Not sure where his staff was but he should have long been in the locker room by then.
My humble opinion: (disclaimer: I don't like Wisconsin's coaching style... albeit Football or Basketball... because they tend to run up the score at the end of games... when the score is way out of bounds).
Wisconsin was up by 16-20 with 2 minutes left in the game. Wisconsin comes down with plenty of time on the 35 second shot clock and drives the lane to score. Then another time... Hepburn (or whatever his name is) puts up a 3 pointer and the crowd goes crazy and the Wisky players are high fiveing.
OK.... I know I know..... you continue to play the game.... but in my opinion is unsportsmanlike to PILE IT ON when the game is well within hand and time running out.
Wisconsin isn't winning any favors in the Conference and there very well could be another brawl in the BTT if they continue to pull the bush league play like today.
Again.... that's my opinion.... I know others will differ and that's what this board is all about.... Opinions.

Michigan was talking plenty of shit when they took the lead in the second half. If you don't want to get thumped on the road, don't shoot 1 for 15 or whatever it was during the stretch where they let it get away from them.
For once there is some shit started in a Wisconsin game, and Brad Davison wasn’t in the middle of it.
It’s because Gard took a timeout with 30 seconds to go. Howard took exception. But Gard can be grabbing grown men like that. Howard needs to keep cool, but there are many men who take being grabbed as a reason to know someone kn their behind
There will be zero ramifications for Wiscy. After last years incident with Maryland’s Turgeon, you wonder what course of action Michigan will take. This is not an isolated incident and legally an argument could be made is now. Pattern. Howard is in deep shit.

Bob Knight was guilty of a lot of things but I don't remember him ever hitting another player or coach from the opposing team.

Gard definitely deserves a suspension for starting it. Inexcusable to grab someone cause he doesn’t want to talk to you. Howard deserves the longer suspension (possibly rest of the year) for escalating things by throwing the punch/ open hand slap. A coach just cannot do that.
It will be nice to finally see Davison out of the league because he’s a prick and Davis because he’s too good.
