The dust has settled and here is where everything stands right now. Nebraska is one of the two teams currently tied with IU after taking 2 of 3 from the Gophers at home, and it's their turn to take on Maryland next weekend at College Park. The Huskers have been such an up and down team this season, they are kind of hard to figure out.

No June baseball at BKF this year and no Big Ten title (unless a tie that we lose the tiebreaker). What a dismantling by Maryland this weekend. I'm not overly surprised about their offense vs our pitching, but our offense for 2 days was woeful.

Complete no show by our offense totally agree. Very few competitive at bats chasing out of the zone… seemed totally unprepared. Yes umd has three decent starters but Savacool has been on and off not quite the same as last year. We made heroes out of their bullpen today. If you’re gonna be aggressive at least barrel up. How many weak grounders did umd have?

As I have tried to tell everyone and been laughed at, this is a total trend under Mercer who is a hitting coach and many pitchers have career days against his team.

You guys all love him though so enjoy this. I on the other hand will continue to be realistic and point out that the program has back slid a ton under him.

This team might very well make a Regional on talent alone since recruiting is the one good thing our coach does. However, his ability to develop players and teach discipline at the plate is absolutely terrible and his in game decisions are not great either.

Also just an FYI Savacool is the only pitcher they hit really hard this weekend since he has been off as you said. They struggled against every other mediocre arm Maryland threw out there though and made them look like Nolan Ryan as is typical with Mercer teams.

Not rooting for Mercer to fail as you guys think but the facts clearly state he has done a really bad job here with a program he needed to merely maintain and not elevate. Instead he has made it a lot worse with his inability to teach approach at the plate as a hitting coach. It is pretty pathetic.
