I don't watch baseball these days, but this was a pretty cool story with several video clips.

The emotion on Brett's face says it all.

That was the highlight of what has been a wonderful Easter!

And . . . Jordan Spieth finally won another tournament, his second consecutive victory on Easter. . . . . Next year’s Masters finishes on Easter.

I wasn’t aware you young whippersnappers could be baseball fans.

Quick trivia question: Who was Dr. Strangeglove?

I used to be a big baseball fan up until the strike in the mid-90s. My interest rallied back a bit during the steroid era and the White Sox 2005 title (I was in Btown which was fun). It's way too slow and uninteresting these days.

I like the older game and style.

I was hoping for Lowry or HV3, but they just couldn't put enough together. HV3 played pretty damn good, just couldn't make a birdie putt.

Yeah, let us know when he hits two home runs like Paul O'Neill...

"The next Tiger"

Along with Bubba, Rory, JT, DJ.....the golf media so badly wanted to lay that moniker on someone.

Wow. That interview of Phillips afterwards.

That was one of the most emotional ones I've ever seen from an athlete. It's nice to see the raw, human side of things.
Over the weekend Hunter Greene, rookie Reds pitcher, pitched at Dodger Stadium. He grew up in LA. After the game he said he started tearing up in the third, composed himself, then teared-up coming off the mound in the fifth. The kid is a stud. Threw 13 pitches 101 or faster - 39 pitches 100 or faster - fastball averaged 100.2 - and his fastball has nice movement. On top of that, he is a great, great kid.

On a side note, I remember going to a Red's game several years ago, and watching Aroldis Chapman striking out the side (Pirates, I think) in what seemed like 9 pitches, all over 100 mph. The place went nuts. He has the record for the fastest pitch in a game at 105.1 mph.

What’s it matter? Fast is fast, and it’s still hard to hit, much less see . . .

Now, throw in any combination of a good slider, change-up and curve and you can make a good “guess hitter” look downright foolish/helpless.

”Just throw three and let me go sit down again.”

And then there are the heat throwers - Ryne Duren - who put one or two on the backstop and nobody sane would ever dig in.

I think it's just one of those things we like to track as a measure of wonderment, status, and comparison. Kind of like the 40 yard dash

What impresses me about Hunter Greene is that his fastballs have quite a bit of movement. I do not recall much movement on Aroldis Chapman's pitches. Plus, Greene has already gotten his Tommy John surgery out of the way. ;)

I would love to stand in the batter's box - OK, on the outside edge of the box - and witness a 102+ mph fastball. Years ago I took my son to a batting cage and they had one of the machines cranked up to 90 mph. I just watched some guy flailing away at the ball from behind the plate (and a chainlink fence), and the speed of the ball was unreal. (Then again, I never played baseball growing up.)

I hope that catcher didn't use a worn glove with thin padding!
