At some point, "we" have to be realistic on what types of players have the best chance of being successful under Woody. His offense doesn't create a lot of in rhythm, open, outside looks. We can continue to gnash our teeth about lack of "shooters", need to play Goode over so and so because of that, etc... And yes, outside shooting is gonna be a key for how good we can end up becoming this year. But that is going to have to come from guys on the court that can create offense for themselves, can defend individually at a high level, and overall just don't need to be helped a lot or setup a lot, to be successful. To me, that's Rice, Carlyle, Galloway, Tucker, Mack, Reneau, and Ballo. Cupps is fine, Goode is fine, they're both good basketball players. And hopefully they'll both help us win some games this year when we need them to play extended minutes, for whatever reason. But playing either of them, just because they might be better spot up shooters, in Woodson's system, will just create weak spots in other areas...without getting the full benefit of their shooting.
Start Rice, Carlyle, Mack, Reneau, and Ballo.
Sub in Galloway and Tucker... But that's your 7 man rotation. Basically don't ever hockey line sub, ever again. And don't worry about needing a "sharpshooter". Be athletic. Be playmakers.
