Obesity declined for the first time in a long time. If the government is going to try and bring down healthcare costs, subsidizing Ozempic should probably be at the top of the list.

Why do we need to have effort to be thin if we don't have to?
We don't need to, but we are Americans, and if we get teased with easy results, we get lazy. I mean, we're already lazy. We get lazier. I mean, the only thing I know about Ozempic is this thread, and I've already ordered a Door Dash from Grand Traverse Pie Company, and I'm probably one of the good ones.

That's a human trait, not just American.

Ozempic is the amazing weight loss drug sweeping the world. And it's only going to get better.

Word is, @mcmurtry66 's big deal has nothing to do with cannabis. He's developing a one-of-a-kind penis enlargement pill. The Jose Arcadio. It's going to change the world.

No way. McM is done with genitals. He's going to develop the next great translation of the Hebrew Scriptures. Take away thoughts of women, and it will be amazing how his mind blooms.

You forgot the kicker - it will make your penis grow so large you can play pickle ball with it. He’s going to have Big Dick Open pickle ball tournaments all over the country. That’s where the big money will be.

Ozempic is going to be the thing that causes the zombie apocalypse, isn't it?
No, but if Americans figure out they can solve their problems without putting in any effort, that can't lead anywhere good.
Vanity will kick in and people will prefer the extra fat to ozempic face. My good buddy did it and now looks downright frightening

Exactly goat. When this shit pops I’m going to get a brand new gt3. I’ll pull up on these hot 20 something chicks and they’ll whisper “not worth it” and I’ll race off with a 5 year old in that tiny back seat. As they used to say FML

Never have two posters taken the joke in such divergent directions.

The scary thing is that Ozempic and the other GLP-1 drugs work on the brain, not the gut or elsewhere. No one knows what the long term effects might be. So yeah, zombies can't be ruled out.

Let's just hope it doesn't turn them more liberal.

Don’t we know why we have an obesity problem? People eat too much, eat crap, and don’t exercise enough. This drug solves one of those.

Vance sounded a lot like Dr. Drew in that last part.

Dr. Drew was a keynote speaker at a convention I went to. And, I have to say, I came away a lot more impressed than I expected to be.

He was excoriating the medical profession for trying to treat problems with interventions rather than determining and addressing their underlying causes.

And I’m not sure I fully agree with you about the underlying causes of the obesity epidemic.

People’s psychology and genetic propensity might be deeper causes, but the ones I listed are the obvious first level cause.

If you fix any one of those things I listed, you go in the right direction. Fix two or three, and problem solved per science. That’s how the body works—you lose weight when you have a calorie deficit.

Would that be off-label application of a diabetes drug?
Like horse de-wormer?
No- Tirzepatide is marketed as Mounjaro for Type II diabetes and as Zep Bound for what mainly weighs on this and all message boards- obesity. So maybe do a clinical trial for drugs put forward by your leader

You do not think they are using Ozempic off-label?

Do you think we will get to a more mild glp1 that would be available in a pill form? It seems like there would a huge demand for a lower dose version that can keep those last 10 lbs on you. I’d never use the Ozempic injectable because I enjoy food and drink too much. But I’d love to weigh 7 lbs less.

I was prescribed Ozempic for High Blood sugar. It makes you feel bad and certainly curbs your appetite. Thanks to the fat folks with money they cornered the market and there was no supply. So the doc switched to Trulicity and same thing happened. Also, killed my energy for trips to gym and actually felt worse. Went 10 months without any of those jabs and I felt great was going back to gym and now the supply is available. Thought OK, let's try again but 1 day after first jab, the crap feeling is back and I have no appetite. I understand it may take time to adjust so I'll take all 4 shots over next month since it costs 100 per month with company health insurance. I think I will pass on taking it going forward. Gotta be doing more harm than good.

If they want you lose weight, can't they prescribe something like Cocaine that at least makes you feel good.

Re gym. GLP1s do not differentiate between fat and muscle. You lose it all. The bigger indicator of long life is muscle. It’s quite a conundrum. I think those using these drugs simply as a beauty aid may not be thinking this out long term.

It's not GLP1. The drug isn't dissolving weight, fat, or muscle. What you are describing is what happens when you suffer a calorie deficit.

You are correct, but my point is that if you are not incorporating weight training while on the drug, you will lose muscle tone along with the fat. The people I know to be using Ozempic look sickly and skeletal. I had not seen one guy in months and my first thought was cancer. That’s not a “healthy” look.

Granted obesity causes health pronlems. Nevertheless, given the side effects of Ozempic, question whether the government subsidizing Ozempic would reduce health care costs.

Might even increase costs given the side effects.
